I recently posted this on another forum and I was advised to join this forum and post it here. I was told that the members on this forum have a wealth of knowledge on Smith and Wessons.

I recently acquired a 19-4 with no red insert or white rear outline. I don't know when it was made but the serial is 59K****. I have seen more 19-4's with this option than without it.

I was just curious if this the R/F and WO/R became standard on the model 19 during the run of the 19-4?

The attached photo shows my 19-4 (bottom) and my 25-5 that has the red insert and white outline for comparison.

Welcome to the forum!

No, the RR and WO were never standard on a Model 19. But, just like the target trigger and hammer, they were available with them.

I can't answer your question but I like your taste I guns. Welcome to the forum. Yeah, the people here have a load of knowledge! I am impressed by them every day.

Thank you for the information and the photo post suggestion! I will defiantly refer to it the next time I want to post a photo.

This site is great!
I guess I should have searched the forum before I posted this question. I have seen more photos of model 19's in 10 min on this site than I have in the past year.

Very nice M19 and yes, 1980 seems to be the year it was shipped. There are alot of members here who really appreciate the M19 in all barrel lenghts.
