This specimen is equipped with a “pearl” type set of stocks with a thin spacer under the actual grip panel. The fit is really quite good. Was something of this nature ever a option from S&W? If not, does anyone have knowledge as to what these might be? Also I have not been able to see the box...

I too have a 64 (no dash) with "slimline" (huh?) barrel. Purchased about 6 years ago and with a little spring work this is easily the best shooter of all the Smiths I have. Probably not going to let this one go!

Would anyone know if the round barrel on one of these is threaded? I know that there are alignment pins which must be removed, but I have been unable to find an exploded parts view with enough resolution. Any help with removing and reinstalling the barrel would be appreciated!
O K. Thanks guys! It looks like I'll just have to see this one... but what can be bad about getting a Smith in your hands? especially an older one. And this one is supposedly in A-1 condition. It seems that I did read something about some of these being mis-stamped or something.
I have been offered a chance to buy a 25-2 ….but have been unable to see the gun. I am looking specifically for a .45 Colt. Were all 25-2's .45 ACP? If this is a .45 ACP I will call this guy off. Thanks for any information on this!
