    New 686 Quality ??

    I had a similar issue with my 686, started a thread here in 2012 about it. Best I can figure my 686 was made in 2002 or so. Wound up sending it back to Smith and they repaired it under warranty.

    Filthy car

    39 years as an Auto Mechanic and I've seen plenty of cars that looked like that. You also never knew what you'd find when you have to look through the car to find the key for the locking lug nuts...... guns, knives, dirty diapers, drugs, etc.....

    The gun appears to be a 686-5, at least that's the number I found by the serial # when you open the cylinder. I'm going to try cracking off the side cover and cleaning it out, and if that doesn't work I'll run it down to a S&W dealer my Dad is friends with to get his input. If it has to go...
