I have ~3000 rounds through my Shield 40. The only issue was with Fiocchi 170gr FMJ flat nose. It would not feed at all. Other than that it's a great gun.

IMO I would get a full size or compact M&P if you want to mount a tactical light to it for HD. Otherwise, if your budget doesn't permit another handgun purchase I would get a hand held tactical light.
