    Question: Cleaning Satin Stainless

I have a SW Model 64 in satin stainless. It has been fired very little. What do I use to clean the blackened areas from around the front of the cylinder area due to firing? Thank you.

SW Model 25-11 Performance Center Heritage

Gun is sold-----gun is sold If you are interested it is my respectful opinion that you will already be educated on this revolver which is shown in the latest edition of the Catalog of SW arms. It is a 45 Colt (so-called Long Colt). There are two models, only difference is the respective...

    Model 25-11 Serial question

Later post by OP answering question: I had not thought about this post for long time. However, just now yesterday, Dec 10, 2013 I found a 25-11 just like mine on Gun Broker and then another one popped up on Gun Broker that is the Case Color version. They have different serial number prefixes...

    Best reference book?

Search Amazon.com because I checked recently and new condition, third editions of the Standard Catalog referred to above could be had for under $30 including shipping costs.

Suggestion: Buy the book before the Gun

At one time I collected coins and there was a saying that said a lot in a short sentence, "Buy the book before the coin." This meant that you should educate yourself before spending money on collectable coin or coins. Learn about what you are buying, educate yourself, etc, etc. Well, I think...

    Question: Model 10-7 cylinder release

Thanks to everyone for your advice I have been out-of-town on urgent personal matter so just now reading the advice. I will not take the sideplate off myself because of lack of experience. I will take to a gunsmith and have it taken apart and cleaned, re-lubed. I appreciate the advice a great...

    Question: Model 10-7 cylinder release

I bought a Model 10-7, 6" barrel, at internet auction and have an inspection period. It was made in 1980 apparently and appears to have been fired very little that I can see...but not sure. The thing is...the cylinder release is difficult to operate. It takes a good hard push with my thumb and...

    Amazed at Auction Site Seller

Yes, one example of an honest mistake I think...a seller listed a Model 10 SW as "stainless steel." Would be a nickel plated if a Model 10, and it was a 10.

    Questions/answers regarding prices and value

Some other random thoughts about this As an example of my thinking....I recently bid on a LNIB Model 64 early model made in 1973 with very nice box, papers, tools, etc. I asked on this forum about what it should be worth. Only one person posted a reply saying around $400-450. Well, if you buy...

    Talking points to rationally discuss......

One problem that is always prominent is the constant labeling. If someone came from another planet and could understand the English language he would think that everyone is either conservative or liberal. Then people of various beliefs start seeing everything related to guns in either black or...

    Amazed at Auction Site Seller

Recently on an internet auction site a seller had an SW revolver for sale in what the seller claimed was the original box. Now, the box had the end label from the time period in which the end label was filled out at the factory simply using a ball-point pen and so was hand printed. I could see...

    Bought on Auction a Model 10-7 6"

I understand your concern about online buying but holding out for a gun show or gun shop find takes so long and then the prices are often higher. (I live in Iowa so the population base is much smaller than some areas.) I have succumbed to buying guns online...usually from GB and Auction Arms...
