On the 642 I would take side plate off and clean everything good inside. Very lite film of oil inside is all that is needed usually.

If you have any gunsmithing ability at all you can probably do it youself. All type of videos on you tube about spring replacement that can show you how to get in there. Miculek has a good one. Hope that helps save you a few bucks.
