    KCPD issued ammunition

Sorry, I’m not asking about how to clean it, I am more curious whether KCPD issued 357 Magnum. As much as these guns have been shot, I would think that there would be some chambering difficulty with 357 and there isn’t in my KCPD. Or maybe they were shot a fraction of what the carry wear would...

    KCPD issued ammunition

Curious, what was the issued/approved ammunition for the KCPD in the Magnum era? I’ve got a Magnum that has seen so much 38 that chambering 357 is nearly a lost cause. I don’t believe the FBI issued 357 except in special cases. Not sure about KCPD?

S&W 1905 target with cut barrel

I have a prewar K-22 that was cut like that, it has made for a dandy little field gun. I would buy a 38 just like it in a heartbeat.

    California Magnum

Cool thing is, the numbered grips are worn quite smooth and the nickel worn off the medallions, but the gun itself is in good shape with no evidence of refinishing. That was either a really good nonfactory refinish sometime back … or that was an awful lot of holster carry. I do believe this gun...

    California Magnum

1247 is the Reg. Number. Have some pictures of BB at the range and in plainclothes carrying this in a bucheimer Clark style crossdraw. I’ll get more pics up sometime soon.

    California Magnum

I bought this 3.5" Magnum a few weeks ago. It turns out to be one of the more interesting guns I've had. First, it letters to King's in San Francisco ... the registration certificate is in the name of B.K. Smith. Mullins' book identifies it as an 8-3/4" King's smoothbore conversion - no...

    K22 sight adjustment

The side screws are simply opposing, adjustable for windage. If need to drift left, loosen left screw and tighten right. The back two screws on top - one is a lock screw and the other is the elevation screw. I think the one closest to the blade is the lock and the other is the elevation but I...

    A smoothbore Magnum ... ?

Sorry, should have been more clear. I purchased this gun (at the listing above) and have been trying to figure out the smoothbore bit. The 357 cylinder is in the gun and is numbered. The 3.5” barrel is not but has apparently been there since 1940 or so. The 8.75” barrel is present and numbered...

    A smoothbore Magnum ... ?

This would have been interesting to see. The gun in question has had a 3.5" barrel since circa 1940. The original 8.75" barrel has been bored out to something like .452 or .458 and fully rifled. The 357 cylinder remains in the gun and numbered to it. Something of a paradox ... which might be...
