I have had success in removing heavy oil/grease accumulation with DL Handcleaner. Apply, work it in and wipe with a damp cloth. Wrap in cloth and/or newspaper and let dry. This should not effect original finish, but test first. Good luck

Thanks Lee, thats an idea, I may craft a pair myself. The linen micarta is still made, it is a finer texture then canvas. Paper micarta is finer still, very smooth and takes a polish. All of them very good material. Joe.

Micarta is suitable for anything that will take a beating. I think canvas micarta would be a good choice because of the added texture. I have been looking, but have not been able to find a maker.
