I don't believe anyone was referring to the Vmax specifically. Just a tipped version of some kind.
I come to think of it, is the 17HMR a Vmax? It's not. 224.
And another point for you non believers.
One of the biggest reasons mfg's are farming out business for rimfire ammo is liability, or lack of. Since rimfires don't use a primer, what sets off the powder? It's called primer compound. It is the single most volatile component in the ammo biz...
If it comes in a CCI style box, CCI makes it. And yes that means Winchester too. The only one that doesn't is Eley 17M2.
The CCI box is proprietary. Meaning they actually have a patent on it.
Hornady doesn't make any rimfire ammo. Their HMR, MK2, & WMR are all made by CCI and packaged for them. The HMR & HM2 were developed as a joint venture between Hornady and CCI. It wouldn't surprise me if they joined in with a plastic tipped lr version.
I think major hit the nail on the head. Seems as if 90% of all malfunctions encountered on the rifle for me at least are directly attributed to the weak mag spring on 25rd mags. Zero malfunctions with shorty mags. Even with old dirty ammo.
Rimfires are horrendously known for being finicky about ammo. While the 15-22 wasn't designed to be a bench gun with accuracy in mind you may very well find one particular brand that performs much better than another. The biggest problem is that your limited to high velocity ammo. It's not...
Unless you have a true match chamber Stingers are fine. Even the PC model that is supposed to be match chamber is sloppy from what I've seen. Easiest way to determine a true match chamber is if the bolt will not extract and unfired round its a match chamber. You won't find many on a sub 1000.00...
I hate when I'm going into battle with my 15-22 and rounds start popping out of the mags. It cost me at least 3 opportunities at Bin Laden. Drive a man to drinking I tell ya, if anyone's game I'll buy.
Then that would be cool. I believe the Academy bulk was loose pack. But I'll certainly double check it next time I'm there.
I can't support Wally World. Employees and the entire entity rub me the wrong way. I'm willing to pay a little more for knowledge and customer service.
They're selling them at Academy now as well. At first I thought it was a good deal until I did the math. Comes out to 6.24 =100rds. Regular 100rds boxes are only 6.67. For me it's worth
. 40 to reuse the CCI boxes for my Wolf and Eley ammo. They have the worst design ammo boxes ever.
