On naming children - are parents insane?

Here's a story about a police officer involved in a fatal shootout with a fellow Army veteran. It's a sad story, but I liked the officer's name: Uppsen Downs! Grandma, vet honored for stopping GI?s Salt Lake City attack | The Salt Lake Tribune

2nd Amendment poll on USA Today

Ah yes, the infamous November 2007 USA Today poll. It's like Dracula--it just won't die.

    NRA elections

Briefly, he was charged with lewd conduct for soliciting sex from an undercover cop in a public restroom. He pled guilty to a lesser charge. I have little doubt that it was NOT a setup. While I personally find what he did repugnant, my libertarian side tends to consider it none of my business...

    NRA elections

I was just looking over my new NRA ballot, and I see that former Senator Larry Craig of Idaho is listed. I'm sure that his relatively recent brush with the law is well known to everybody so I won't bother to recount it here. But it does bring up an interesting question. As far as I know, Senator...

    Bill Oreilly and Katrina gun-grab

Thanks for the links. He is definitely wrong on this one.

    Bill Oreilly and Katrina gun-grab

I'm afraid I'd have to see a transcript of his comments before I would feel comfortable emailing him about them. Do you have a link?

    Opinions of Lee Press

I can't speak to the Lee Pro 1000 specifically since that is one that I don't own, but every other piece of Lee equipment that I have works flawlessly. If you are on a budget, there is no better deal out there IMO.

Did he kill all those Germans?

As far as I know, nobody actually saw him do it, and he never confessed to doing it. So I see no reason to slander a fine officer over what amounts to little or no proof. That said, I think there is a difference--legally at least--between "not taking prisoners", and taking prisoners and then...

Suggestions for a new bowhunting gun

That's what I like about the exposed hammer. Maybe I'm crazy, but there's something comforting about SA in the outdoors.

Suggestions for a new bowhunting gun

Besides my Sig P239 (29 oz), I have a 29-8 MG (34.5 oz with the lock) or a Colt Combat Elite (39 oz) that I could carry. It sure seems like there are a lot of handguns with a ton more oomph!, as long as you are willing to pack the weight. In fact, it occurred to me that I'd be better off...

Suggestions for a new bowhunting gun

Looks like the 637 comes the closest because of the fully-exposed hammer. I would still like to get one in .357 though, darn it. Maybe the .38 in +P will get me close enough. Thanks, and if you can think of any others please keep 'em coming.

Suggestions for a new bowhunting gun

It's legal here for permit-holding bowhunters to carry a firearm and I do so, more for human threats than animal. Up until now I've been carrying a Sig P239 in .40, which I love everything about except the weight (29 oz), which is a lot for a compact gun. This is what I'm looking for: Snubnose...

Hey America - Help us Indiana gunowners out on this

One scenario that comes to mind is if you end up needing it on your way to or from work. I agree that it would be ideal to be able to have it WHILE working as well, but, as they say: "one step at a time."

    Hunting at 1000 yards

Regarding long shots, I agree with the late Jeff Cooper who said, and I am paraphrasing: "I've made a few long shots in my life but I don't brag about them. On the contrary, I apologize for them."
