Should I take the 360PD or the 686 (or the 10-5)?

For me, The 360 PD is an excellent gun to carry, but not that fun to shoot. The 686 is fun to shoot, but not good to carry. I do a lot of running and biking not only in town but in the desert and mountains, and the 360 PD is just perfect for these situations. I guess it just depends what kind...

    625 JM grips

I keep putting the JM grips back on because I like their looks, and then I keep taking them off because I don't like their feel--too slippery and the recoil bites. Hogue rubber grips work best for me.

    THUNDER RANCH 325 .45 revolver

Seems like not a lot of 325 TR owners out there. I've had mine for about a year now and have no trouble. I go back and forth between that and the 625 JM as my favorite revolver.

Problems w/ new 360 pd - other experiences?

I have had no problems with my 360 PD. I bought this gun to carry when I am running or biking--you cant beat its size and weight. I mainly shoot 38 and +P's though. I've shot a handfull of magnums just to say I've done it.

    S&W Lock Failure?

It was "tongue in cheek smart***" in response to the implication that using an IL revolver for self defense equates to lack of brains. I am an admitted novice at this, but I do not buy that argument. Seriously though, one of my revolvers was having a problem with light primer strikes. This...

    S&W Lock Failure?

Oh, my... So here is a question for the "experienced and wise one". I have read that that a person should fire 500-1000 rounds through their carry gun, using carry ammo, to assess reliability prior to depending on this gun for self defense. Is this a good recommendation? And if I have shot...

Jack of all trades, but master of none?

I have my beloved revolvers, and one semi (Sig P220). I love the Sig, but wonder if shooting this platform will "confuse" my muscle memory for revolvers (my favorite platform). And amongst my revolvers, I have 2 or 3 favorites that I like to shoot in competition and ccw. Believe me, I do...

    S&W Lock Failure?

Aw Jeez, not this again. This never ending lock paranoia is a perfect example of human psychology...people tend to spend a disproportionate amount of time worrying about things that are unlikely to happen. By reading all these posts, you'd think locks are coming apart all over the place...

    "Lock" question

I am trying my darndest to induce a lock failure on one of my four newer Smiths. Can't even get it to happen on my 360 PD with 357 mags. After several thousand rounds through my revolvers, and no lock failures, I think I am not going to waste any brain energy worrying about this.

Smith & Wesson’s Thunder Ranch Defense .45 – your experience?

I own both the 325 TR and the 625 JM for .45 revolvers. I must say that I prefer shooting the 325, and shoot it better than any other revolver that I own. Other than the fact that the black finish seems to scuff easily, I love everything about the 325. It's lighter weight makes it easier for me...

opinions on the Jerry Miculek grips...

I removed them my 625 JM...feels slippery in my hand. I much prefer Hogues on this gun. Too bad the JM's don't feel good, because they sure look good.

Who at Smith & Wesson should I complain to?

Careby, It is inexcusable if Smith intentionally lied to you about destroying the old frame...One would hope that there is some other reason (albeit lame)for this debacle, other that intentional deceit. I'm very curious to know how they respond to your email with the picture. Hopefully this...

Model 325 Thunder Ranch Revolver thread

I am embarrassed to report that my FTF problem appears to have been due to the mainspring screw not being tightened all the way. First trip out to the range after tightening the screw, and I had absolutely no problems with approximately 75 rounds.

J Frame with IL for carry poll.

If one were to make a list of preventable things that could go critically wrong during a gunfight, and if one were to list them in descending order of probability, lock failure is probably low on the list. Heck,<STRIKE>I</STRIKE> am much more likely to fail than the lock. I just took the lock...

Gun shop messed up on the trigger job

I took the gun back to the shop today. They said that they only way this could have happened is if "somebody" pushed hard on the hammer when it was cocked back. At any rate, they took the gun and intend to send it to Smith for a fix, so at least they intend to address the problem.
