I've carried a S&W 360pd 38/357 for a couple of years now . . . usually stoked with 38+p ammo. Shot it yesterday with 357s and it really locked up bad - the trigger and hammer just seemed out of sync and it took some "jiggling" to get it back to rotating the cylinder. The hammer seems lose from side to side. Left it with the gunsmith at H&H Indoor Range and he's going to go through it. Just another example of a S&W product that does not run well off the shelf - literally all of my scandium revolvers, as expensive as they are, require another $100 worth of action work before I can rely on them. Kinda sick of that.

Was it pulling bullets creating this issue?
Or did it function poorly once unloaded as well?
Let us know what the issue is/was

You've had it for 2 years, so it did run well right off the shelf.

I'd like to hear what the problem turns out to be as well.

Honestly, I shot it one time and killed an armadillo, the just carried it all this time. I know - plain stupid. I thought for $800 the gun would work fine. It dry fired okay, etc.

I was able to get it to cycle after working through the 5 shots of 357 - it felt gritty in double action.

The lock was disabled by filing off the stud when I first got it - by a master gunsmith and fellow lock hater.

I have had no problems with my 360 PD. I bought this gun to carry when I am running or biking--you cant beat its size and weight. I mainly shoot 38 and +P's though. I've shot a handfull of magnums just to say I've done it.

My 340PD and 360PD have a combined +6500 rounds through them. I shoot a load that's a little hotter than a GDSB +P, a little softer than GDSB 357. Each has light springs, an XS standard dot front sight, Apex firing pin and deactivated IL. The 360 has a 340 hammer (easier and cheaper than bobbing). Neither has failed to go bang, ever. Each has been back to S&W once. At about 1500 rounds the 360 was getting some galling in the face of the cylinder. Nothing dramatic, but the factory replaced it. The new cylinder has beveled forward edges, while the old one's were sharp. Don't know if it matters. At about 2K the 340's b/c gap was disappearing, and the cylinder starting to drag on the barrel. S&W fixed it, but didn't tell me what they did. I suspect it was a yoke issue. I carry one or the other daily, and consider them as reliable as a firearm could be.

I've owned my 340PD for several years. I've shot about 200 rounds of 125-grain .357 Magnum Remington Golden Saber. I've never loaded or shot any .38 round in it.

Although I've never used it, I haven't altered or disabled the trigger lock either.

I've never had one problem with mine and I carry it daily.

my 340PD functioned mechanically perfect. However, the barrel was not put on straight and even though S&W say they fixed the issue, it never ever shot POA. I sold it to a gun shop at probably a $400 loss.

Bummer.........

I have an M&P 360 that I drag around everywhere. I've shot some nasty stuff through it and it has not balked a single time. I had a friend of mine "massage" it to my liking. Anything can have an issue, I guess. I'd go ahead and send it to Smith directly for probs. or repairs. JMO Sprefix
