    Serial number lookup

I have a Smith and Wesson model 67-3 and I am curious as to how old my revolver is. Where can I get the year it was made? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Model 67-1

I am old and slow in my recent years so please don't laugh at me. I have a model 67-3 that I bought a couple months ago that has been fired very little and never yet by me. My question is: what is a gas ring? My 67 doesn't appear to have a ring on the front of the cylinder. I have owned a couple...

    Pinned and recessed?

Thank you to all that gave me information on pinned and recessed. Very well explained, now I understand. My other Smith gun is a M&P EZ9 so this revolver is a learning curve for me. Again, thanks for the information.

    Pinned and recessed?

I see the term "pinned and recessed" used when talking about revolvers. What does this term mean and is it a good thing to be pinned and recessed? Is my new to me Smith and Wesson model 67-3 pinned and recessed and where is this pin if my gun has one? Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Old member, back again

Thanks everyone for the welcome back cheers. I think the new to me 38 special would take on a croc. But around here now are the big snakes. The pythons are growing crazy big and bad on the other wildlife. There are no rabbits here now and the big snakes are killing small deer. A few days ago a...

    Old member, back again

Hello again. I signed up about 4 years ago when living in Iowa on the west bank of the Mississippi river. Last year we moved to sunny south Florida, the Gulf of Mexico is a short distance out our front door and the Everglades is in our back yard. Today I bought a beautiful used Smith model 67-3...

    New shoes for my 686.

Nice looking grips. I like the smaller size over the large ones one my 586. Are those for a K frame? Thanks, Old Deere

    Stage the trigger

OK I understand. I sounds sort of like a compound bow where the cam reduces the draw pull weight. Thanks everyone for the information.

    Stage the trigger

I have heard the term "stage the trigger " a few times when talking about Smith and wesson revolvers. What does this mean and is it something that could be used with my model 586? Is it the act of pulling the hammer back like a single action revolver or something else? Thanks

    When did S&W intro 2-piece barrels 64 & 65?

Thank you for the quick response, always nice to learn a bit more about our passion. I have a couple Ruger single action revolvers but new to double actions. My new Smith and Wesson sure is fun to shoot plus at 71 years old I am starting to reload .38 specials for the 586.

    When did S&W intro 2-piece barrels 64 & 65?

I am relatively new to Smith and Wesson only having one revolver, 586 4 inch barrel. Perhaps a simple question but,, what is a 2 piece barrel and is my 586 a 2 piece? Thanks

    New old guy in Iowa

Thanks for all the welcome notes from my new friends here on the forum. Moved here to Davenport Iowa about 4 years ago from upstate New York, the land of high taxes and tuff gun laws. I love Iowa due to being a common sense part of the country. Tomorrow I will take my new .357 to the local range...

    New old guy in Iowa

Hi everyone, I am the Old Deere and I live in Iowa on the west bank of the Mississippi river. Been lurking around this sight for several weeks and just picked up a new Smith and Wesson model 586 4 inch barrel this morning. Simply beautiful handgun, almost to nice to shoot, but I sure will.
