reloading for top breaks 32 and 38 SW

thanks for posting replies. I have loaded BP cartridges for my 44 Colt replica, and 303 British rifle, they are a blast to shoot and very accurate. The 303 was more accurate than any smokeless rounds I ever shot through it. I hesitate to load a lot of BP rounds for the old Smiths however...

I'd like to add, that this week I was able to reload 38SW using 38 Special dies, it worked just fine, and shot just fine.

    S& W .38 cal. ammo query

I picked up around 100+ loose rounds of 38 SW at a local gun show 2 weeks ago. Most of it was old blackpowder rounds, about 2/3. The old guy sold it to me for 50 cents/round. If you go to gun shows and pick through the cans and boxes of loose old ammo, you will invariably find 32SW and 38SW...

reloading for top breaks 32 and 38 SW

I'm putting this thread here because it may get lost and buried down in the reloading section and not get noticed, and it's an often asked question about top breaks, one that I asked myself but got no replies to here except one after 2 months of occasional research, and also racking my memory...

    Top-Breaks Drying Up?

the prices of guns in general has come DOWN, and that causes a lot of guys to not list them for sale, because they aren't bringing much money. If you want to sell them quick they have to be discounted 50% in price. The same goes for any vintage gun today except for the really rare ones, and...

Photos of your antique S&W Model Top Breaks

last weekend at the gun show I went through several boxes and cans of mixed pistol and rifle ammo that vendors had, old ammo- and picked out all the rifle and pistol ammo that I have guns for. Among it was approx. 150 rounds of mixed 32 SW and 38 SW ammo. Some of it is really old and has...

hammer stud nut- try Dave Chicione, or Jack First, or Numrich cylinder stop- Jack First makes them, just got one trigger spring- Numrich has them, I just got 3 grips- Numrich for $23 new, but you need the hardware too, and they have to be file fitted

    S&W 38 DA 3rd model parts needed

true, they have to move with the market, and I sense all their inventory isn't sorted- they most likely have the parts but not catalogued. And their SW parts inventory is starting to dwindle- lots of "sold out" on the parts lists anymore. I got a lot of my parts to put together recent SW's...

    S&W 38 DA 3rd model parts needed

actually these threads were so wiped out, it didn't matter, and the slight difference didn't affect it much in thread pitch- the hammer lugs go in easily and stay put, and the nuts fit perfectly i.e. I used SAE American Standard tap

2nd-3rd model 38SW DA timing quirks

it's a long, detailed answer to that question. I'm not a gunsmith either, but I've been repairing/rebluing my own guns for 30 years+ on the kitchen table. when the quirk first presented itself, I noticed it on the 3rd model 6" barrel DA. Then I got the (2) frames for the "put together" guns...

2nd-3rd model 38SW DA timing quirks

I noticed a phenom on the SW DA's- some guns when pulled back to full cock in SA mode, will have a crisp trigger pull and hammer release like a normal single action pistol would while others have a not so crisp release- instead what happens is, when at full cock in SA mode and the trigger is...
