    19/66 Snub Question

Not to hijack the thread, but... I tried a Glock 27 subcompact .40 at a range and it was way too snappy of recoil in that small frame for my liking making a follow-up shot very difficult (for me). To me a full-sized 1911 is a dream to shoot and recoil is very manageable. The weight and grip...

    19/66 Snub Question

Love my Model 66 I heard a lot about the "ferocity" of .357 loads and the intense muzzle blast in the short barrel when I got my Model 66, but I personally don't see it. I have never minded handgun recoil (not a fan of rifle recoil at all) and love the .44 mag round and if you're that kind of...

Can I See Some T Grips and Magnas?

Model 66-1 w/S&W grips and Tyler T-Grip My model 66-1 is very comfortable to shoot with the Tyler grips and I love the look. Easier to conceal than thick rubber grips but just as comfortable to shoot IMO.

    New-to-Me 66-1 - Very Happy!

Spent some more money I finally got the stuff I ordered for my 66-1. The Don Hume holster works great. This is the first high-rise holster I've used and I like the way this thing wears and conceals. The price is right too. I also got a Beltman belt that works fantastic. Their customer...

    New-to-Me 66-1 - Very Happy!

Thanks everyone for the good words about my new acquisition. Because everyone here is open about the current market value of these guns and because I know the guy who sold it to me isn't on this forum, I'll tell you I paid $700 for the gun and the holster. No box and no papers included. I...

    New-to-Me 66-1 - Very Happy!

After looking over this forum for quite some time (great info BTW and real good people) I found a Model 66-1 for sale locally. The gun was surprisingly dirty and there was some "holster wear" on the cylinder which looked like the finish had been basically polished in some spots by holstering...

New guy with pre-model 36 question...

Great stuff! Thanks for the info. As for the finish, like I said, it was my Grandfather's daily carry way back when. It was REALLY rough and my father sent it back to Smith for a complete refinish about 10 years ago. It's pristine now so I'd like to find some nice grips so I may have to go...

    Ayoob Column In American Handgunner

I recently read an article of his about carrying the .38 snubby and it was very informative. He wrote about "putting his money where his mouth was" by attending a pistol course with a snubby (as he'd advocated as a primary carry). He used two snub-nosed .38s in the course to keep up with the...

New guy with pre-model 36 question...

Great site with a ton of info. I'm overwhelmed actually. I have two questions about my Grandfather's pre-model 36 Chief Special. First; What type of grips should it take? It currently has a set of aftermarket grips and I found a set of old S&W grips in my stuff and, while they're plenty old...
