Would like to know how they shoot, too -- is it a practical set up?

You asked for opinions, so here is mine. I do not like these things at all. The Tyler T adapter feels odd in my hand. I have tried them on N, K, J, and I frame guns, but prefer to change the stocks to something that suits me. The one advantage to the adapter is that it fills the hand without changing the outward profile of the revolver, which aids in concealment.

I am definitely in the minority here, most members love them.

Here are a Model 64 and a 640 with Tylers on them. The T grip has a lot going for it but isn't as comfortable as some other set ups. I carry the 640 in my pocket every day. The T grip shines in that role and is a big improvement over nothing.

I also am not a huge fan. I thought these things would split the atom based on how glowing
everyone spoke of them - meh, they're alright but I'm underwhelmed. For old school cool
though they can't be beat. I'd pick a nice set of K-Targets every day of the week.

This one here works well for me, but I have tried them on others and they don't work for me on N frames at all. I have a set on the j frame .22 that seems to work well filling the grip. A little trial and error is in order, to see what works for you should you use them.

Model 66-1 w/S&W grips and Tyler T-Grip

My model 66-1 is very comfortable to shoot with the Tyler grips and I love the look. Easier to conceal than thick rubber grips but just as comfortable to shoot IMO.

All the pics say it all, but all of my revolvers are set up this way and it has worked perfectly for me for over 40 yrs.

It's amazing how they disappear on a gun. I love the look of magnas but the feel of targets. Trying to split the difference.

I like a grip adapter for the old-school cool factor, but prefer boot grips for shooting. Here's a couple model 36's with pachmayr adapters.

58-44.

This must have been what got the topic in the the other section resurrected. Nice.

Would you share the story?

Sure! But the story isn't all that spectacular.... I really like 58's and have since the 70's.

For a belt gun they are just about perfect. The only arguement I had was the caliber. Not that there's anything wrong with the .41 magnum chambering, which I've loaded and shot alot of over the years, but I always thought that Smith should have made them in other calibers.

I always meant to make up one in .44 Magnum, but everytime I found a donor gun, I just couldn't bring myself to cut it. Then not long ago, my bird hunting partner, fellow Mainiac and fellow forumite "REVORG" stumbled across this late S serialed 58 that had already been done up in .44 Magnum and knowing my interest he bought it. We traded not long there after.

After some experimenting with different charge amounts I finally got the combination right so that the elevation is POA for the stock front sights. The load is 7.8 grains of Unique with a cast lead 242 grain lead round nose by my pal Jessie Clark of Tennessee Valley Bullets. I can't recall the exact velocity, but think it's just a little more than a stiff .44 Spl. load. Pleasant to shoot all day even with the modified Magna stocks and Tyler-T.

Tylers are an improvement with magnas , especially on K and J frame. But for N frame, like the model58 on my avatar, the Ahrends Retro Combats in dark cocobolo is the winner. Look how pretty they are and fit my hand like a glove.
