    My "tactical" 2 point sling

I would have used black zipties, but that's just me. I made my own attachments and sling out of a couple of sets of nylon strap with clips from Sporting Goods and a pack of blue jeans buttons from the crafts department at the LWM*. The total after tax was about $6-7. There are lots of ways to...

Ammo deal Federal Value Packs $154.99 shipped for 5250rd case take that wallmart

The way the law is written, apparently anyone delivering mail (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) has to keep a record of any ammo they deliver.

Ammo deal Federal Value Packs $154.99 shipped for 5250rd case take that wallmart

I've never ordered ammo over the internet. I'm slightly paranoid that somebody would investigate me, especially for an order of 5250 rounds. I can see it now... There really is a law that mailmen have to report deliveries of ammunition.

    Gateway Gun

I went to a local store today and found a couple of whole DPMS that were well under $900 with a detachable carry handle sight, adjustable stock, and old-style forearm/hand guard. They had a couple (I forget which brand :( ) under $800. These are the prices I was expecting for used guns, so I...

    Gateway Gun

I bought the 15-22 because I didn't think I could afford an AR-15, but now I'm seriously considering getting one. I'll probably be looking for something used or that I can get for under $1000. I wish I had all the money I spent on the 15-22 because that would just about cover an M&P15 new.

    Dryfire damage?

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a firearms expert, but I think if you dry fired after the last round of a magazine you have bigger problems than damage caused by dry firing. That means the bolt didn't stay open on the last round. If the bolt did stay back, I don't think...

    M&P 15-22 goes boom...not good

If you notice, he said it was a DTU number, so it isn't a new rifle. It just sat on a shelf somewhere.

    M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

I'm pretty sure I'm done this time. I got some .5" risers for the red dot, and have it back up front where I like it, and it is lined up right with the iron sights. The guy at the store told me they were from a Bushmaster rifle. The risers are far enough forward I can take off the red dot and...

Stock slippage: (photos)As I mentioned in my Range Report, after firing 1st round.

What I meant to ask is, since the lower receiver will have to be replaced, and that is where the serial number is located, if you get a new lower you will get a new serial number. From what I've read, if you get a new barrel for a Ruger Mark pistol you have to go through an FFL because it has...

Stock slippage: (photos)As I mentioned in my Range Report, after firing 1st round.

If they have to exchange lowers, doesn't that mean you will have to have a store do the exchange?

    Rifle of the year

The 15-22 has to be the greatest thing ever to hit the gun industry. For every $500 rifle sold, people buy another $200-1000 worth of accessories (lights, lasers, scopes, red dots, magnifiers, grips, ammo). If it had not been shipped with a quad rail on it, it would have never gotten this...

How much ammo do you guys keep around?

I think you should have at least 1000 rounds for every gun you own. Shoot the oldest ammo first and replace it as you use it. Think of it this way. You wouldn't think twice of having a few days of canned food just for normal cooking, plus a few more days worth of canned food in case of a...

    Rifle of the year

It sounds like a correct rumor to me. Mr. Stone from Thompson/Center takes credit for the barrels. It's going to be nice to tell people I own one of the "Award Winning S&W M&P15-22s".

At first I didn't really like the tacti-crayola look, but I decided to try it out, and I like it.

difference between picatinny and weaver rails

The weaver-style rings work fine on picatinny rails. The width of the slots is a little wider on picatinny rails, so weaver rings will fit on picatinny rails where picatinny rings wouldn't necessarily fit on weaver bases.
