Powder puff loads - 38 Spl

Not a published load, but something I've used successfully in the past to introduce my wife to a Model 36: Lee 95 grain Makarov cast bullet, sized to .358" A minimum of 1.5 grains of Red Dot. 2.0 grains of Red Dot also works well for a low recoil, low noise load. No problems with squibs in a...

    Range report- .32DA, fourth model.

Greetings, all! Actually this is not really a "range" report- it's more of a "go out in the desert a few miles South of town and shoot" report. I finally located some ammo for the .32 top break I purchaced a couple of weeks ago (Remington 88 gr. RN R32SW- $40/box), so I put it through it's...

    1917 value

My 1917 was made for the Brazillian Navy in 1937, and it lacks the "U.S. Property" stamp. It does have the Brazillian crest on the right side cover plate instead. This stamp is fairly light, and could have been buffed off if it's been refinished. PeteT.

    Lightest Safe 38-SPCL. Charge?

When teaching my wife to shoot my M-36, I experimented with the 95 grain cast bullet intended for a 9x18 Makarov, sized to .358". 1.5 grains of Red Dot produced a load with almost no recoil or muzzle blast that was pretty accurate and consistent at ten yards. Printed somewhat low was the only...

Follow up to "do I need a 4473"

Greetings, all! Finally made it back to the shop and bailed my "new" gun out. After getting a better look at it, it appears to be unfired, or very close to it. I disassembled the frozen latch, and there was no congealed lube in it whatsoever. In the end, I had to lightly stone the frame in...

    Advice on ammo please

Probably not my DA... I haven't posted a photo yet since I haven't brought it home from the shop yet:D! Hopefully this will change sometime early next week.... PeteT.

    Advice on ammo please

That round in the middle looks very familliar- I bought a case lot of it about 20 years ago. Mine is headstamped "380 Z", has a 173 grain copper plated bullet, and was advertised as Mil Surp from Belgium if I remember correctly. Wouldn't want it in the same time zone as a top break! Shot fine...

    Do I need a 4473 for this?

Greetings, and thanks for the info. Actually, the DA and SA functions perfectly. Everything locks up tight, trigger pull is crisp... no longitudinal play in the cylinder or side to side movement in the hinge whatsoever. Like it's never been fired. I'm hoping it's just some solidified grease...

    Do I need a 4473 for this?

Greetings, all- new guy checking in. Have you ever gone into a gun store, not really intending to buy anything.... and gotten too close to the display case and had something jump up, grab you by the eye-balls and refuse to let go until you bought it? I had just such an experience a couple of...
