Another possibly 'stupid' question, but curiousity has the best of me.
Does running 'self defense' shot through a revolver damage it in anyway?
Can you use the shot for hunting small game, ex. squirrels, rabbits...?
Curious.
Scooter,
Great link and thank you. I've been trying to gather information and opinions on sights because of these aging eyes. Your link did the trick. Those pictures were very helpful not to mention some 'sweet' looking revolvers.
If anyone is looking for sights and wants to read a good...
Hey Scooter,
I just signed into my account when your thread opened up... how???
Just wanted to say great thread, very informative and Thank you. I've been trying to find out information on different sights for my aging eyes. I've got the M686 and I checked under my strap for the three screws...
How can you tell if your Model 686 has an interchangeable pinned front sight?
I notice below the front sight (red ramp) what appears to be a pin running perpendicular to the front sight above. Is that the pin?
Thinking about the SDB Gold Bead or possibly a light gathering SDM Super Sight...
Got to say the advice has been 'immeasurable'. I modified my grip (I'm a righthanded shooter), on my left index finger just a bit and a simple adjustment on my trigger pull. Actually, I ignore the pull and concentrate on increasing trigger pressure... I don't pay attention to any movement of...
Well I've got to say Thank you for bringing me back down to earth; all of you. I greatly appreciate this forum. I've only been here for a little while and have been allowed to learn a great deal.
Thank you again everyone. FATHER BLESS phoenix357
The revolver is a .357 Model 686 with a 4" barrel.
The line doesn't appear smooth like two separate pieces side by side. But looks as if there are many very small tears/rips that combine together to complety circle the inside of the barrel, thus making a perfect ring.
Hard to describe, but if...
How do you know if your barrels' rifling is of sufficient enough depth and appears to be correct?
Can you shoot the rifling away?
And is there such a thing as getting a barrel re-rifled?
UPDATE: Closer inspection... (it was someone elses' thread that got me curious about my rifling.).
Upon...
I'm shooting the M686 .357 with the red front sight. I am pushing the mark with my eyes... not as good as they used to be. I am curious whether or not the full black front sight would be easier to see and obtain a good sight picture versus the red? Any suggestions and/or opinions, and yes I do...
I have a used Model 686 .357 w/4" barrel and am shooting Blazer .357 158 gr. JHPs at 25 yards. The bullseye is 3".
I fire 12 rounds per target and was allowed to put 7 rounds in the bullseye, 4 just outside and 1 I don't want to talk about.
My question is: I know that most of the people on...
Could someone give me the proper technique on cleaner a revolver barrel?
I've read that you only use the wire brush for revolvers that have been neglected... same for Bore Cleaner solvents.
I've heard that you can over clean a revolver???
How spotless does a barrel have to be?
Any advice...
Bullseye,
Yes sir... That is exactly what I'll be doing with mine this year; hunting.
Even when my hands won't fit comfortably in any kind of construction glove less than a large, I won't never give this revolver up. I have big hands on a small frame and short too... helluva sight. lol
I...
Hi Gibbs,
That's a pretty good .02 cents. I bought a M60 w/5" barrel and when I was in Wyoming buying a temporary holster for it, (till I could get one made), the guy at the store kept telling me I needed a holster for a 3" barrel.
I told him no it's a 5" M60 and had to go to the car to...
