Does anyone know how many Model 60s with the 5" barrel were produced when S&W was still making them?

I found out that they came out in 2005 and stopped appearing in the 2008 cataloque.

Short of a phone call to Roy Jinks at S&W[ S&W historian] I don't know how you'd determine that info!
A letter from S&W would only involve the specifics to the serial number involved and not necessarily provide overall mnfg quantities.
The Supica book rarely gives that info unless the detail in question is quite scarce in nature.
Just my $0.02!

Hi Gibbs,

That's a pretty good .02 cents. I bought a M60 w/5" barrel and when I was in Wyoming buying a temporary holster for it, (till I could get one made), the guy at the store kept telling me I needed a holster for a 3" barrel.

I told him no it's a 5" M60 and had to go to the car to prove it to him. He was so excited about it, he got a hold of the guy at the front counter and said, "Sure enough he's got one." Anyway, he told me that if I want to get rid of it before I left town to contact him.

He went to the S&W Academy and told me that that revolver wasn't in the catalog anymore.

It is a 'great' shooting revolver and with the small grips, (which had me nervous at first... .357s), the recoil seems to roll up and out of your hand. Not where you feel like it is going to come out, but just a natural lift.

Thanks again Gibbs in getting me in the right direction.

No number, but there was truck loads made and every one with a small hand has one and won't give it up. You would fall over on how many are used to hunt with :D .

Bullseye,

Yes sir... That is exactly what I'll be doing with mine this year; hunting.
Even when my hands won't fit comfortably in any kind of construction glove less than a large, I won't never give this revolver up. I have big hands on a small frame and short too... helluva sight. lol

I wonder if they made the grips for women, or if they actually realized that these grips divert the recoil? I'm glad I fired heavy rounds through it before I switched out the factory grips. I am going to keep the grips from the factory just as is.

I've run a couple of boxes of Blazer 158gr. 357 jhps and no problem what-so-ever with sore hands or any other problem imaginable.
