    66 3" ashland gun

$1200 price I saw this gun today on the forum you mentioned. He seems to want $1200+ for the gun. I don't think he will sell it for that.

    Range report: Unhappy with 629

I have one of those also I have a gun identical to yours, and have been shooting it for over 10 years. I generally use factory .44 magnum ammo from CCI Blazer, with the aluminum cases. I'll shoot maybe 50 rounds per outing, and the recoil is significant, but not a problem causing discomfort...

    3" Model 66 No Good?

Model 66-4 with 3 inch barrel I hope you like your model 66-4 3 inch gun as much as I like mine. I got it a couple of years ago and find the 3 inch barrel length to be perfect.

The model 66 round butt 1975 to 2002 a chronology.

Impressive collection That is a wonderful collection of a classic gun. I like them myself, but my collection of three model 66's looks very modest next to yours.

    629/5" & 686/4"

629 If you don't know what you might have to shoot, the .44 magnum covers more bases. So I like the 5 inch 629 Classic.

choosing a s&w revolver for a green beret for ccw.

Suggested alternative I'd say the 4 inch 686 is a little large for easy concealed carry. It would have a square butt grip and be difficult to conceal. I would go with a model 66 with 3 inch barrel instead. It is a lighter gun, but still a full-fledged .357 magnum with 6 rounds, as would...

    Model 686 pics

Another 686 fan I have always admired the 686 and have two of them, in 6 inch and 2.5 inch barrel lengths. They both have Ahrends cordia wood grips. I shoot them frequently.

Ahrends Round Combat vs Hogue Mono

Use Ahrends on 629 I've had the round butt Ahrends finger groove grips on my 629 Classic for a couple of years and like them very much. They seem to spread the recoil well when firing the gun. The finger grooves lock my hand onto the grips well without the use of checkering.

    686 2 1/2"

Here's a picture I've had a 686 2.5 inch gun for a little over a year, and it is a wonderful gun for shooting. It is a big gun, however, and you have to be motivated to carry it. I have one holster that fits it.

WHICH VERSION OF MODEL 66 2.5 INCH?

Ahrends Yes, they are Ahrends finger groove round butt grips. The woods are (left to right) bubinga, cordia and cocobolo.

WHICH VERSION OF MODEL 66 2.5 INCH?

Maybe it doesn't matter... I don't own a 66-1, but have the -2, -3 and -4 in short barrel lengths. I shoot all three of mine and don't see much difference in feel or accuracy. I suspect that individual variations from gun to gun may be more important than model dash number variations.

    Model 66 three inch AGAIN......

Answer The grips on my 66-4 are Ahrends finger groove round butt grips in silver black dymondwood.

    Model 66 three inch AGAIN......

I bought the one below for $500 two years ago, direct from the original owner. He advertised it as a 2.25 inch barrel, apparently measuring from the end of the frame to the end of the barrel.
