Cripes... I bought my 329PD used about two months ago and have already cleaned the cylinder with Hoppes, and used a copper brush on it. I'd better give it a close inspection tonight. I had no idea this stuff was an issue. I bought it to backpack with and not to shoot [much], so I guess I'd...
I wanted one of these so bad when they were in stock at my LGS. I should have made that happen. I've wanted a 500 period since they came out... But still don't have one. Almost bought a used 8" 500 locally for $850 last month, but ended up with a 329PD because I didn't want to pack a huge hogleg...
Congrats OP! Love the looks of that beauty. I have 4" .44s... but I could see getting into 3" models. That just looks right to me. Those grips look great too.
Oh man... I've wanted a 500ES since they came out so many years ago. What's the recoil like? Have you shot a 329PD? If so... how would you compare them? My 329PD is the most "unpleasant" gun I've ever fired. At least it was until I put X-frame grips on it.
BTW... that 500ES is just so awesome...
Watching "Alaska off the grid" where they build cabins in the middle of nowhere and this hunting guide is packing a S&W 329PD with the stock wood grips. Good to know that an AK pro guide thinks enough of it to carry one. Surpised he's not packing a .454, .460, or .500. Guess he doesn't like...
Why yes... YES IT WILL!!!
Have never shot anything so unpleasant in my 45 years of shooting. I replaced the stock wood grips with the X-frame rubber grips and it helped. Now it's just "brutal" and not "unbearable". If I didn't need a very lightweight grizzly bear gun for hiking, the 329PD would...
I took the K6s to the range this morning and instead of the usual smorgasbord of various guns... today I focused solely on shooting the Kimber. I fired 50 rds of American Eagle .38 spcl copper-plated round nose, and 50 rds of Fiochi copper-plated conical flat nose .357 mag. 1/3 were fired from...
Your humble opinion is worth what I paid for it in this case. I've owned three Taurus handguns and shot thousands of rounds through them. They are most certainly NOT "junk". I find that most people who dismiss the brand so completely are either guilty of the group-think internet mentality...
I picked up my first (and only) Sig on New Year's Day this year. It's an Ultra Carry 1911 in two-tone with checkered front strap and night sights. Regular retail would have been about $1150. It was new, on clearance, and they were having a one-day 15% off sale. I took it home for $680. I've had...

I have three ARs, M1A, M1 Garand, and HK91 for home defense (not to mention shotguns). If I can get to them, I'll be using them in the case of a home invader. But I don't keep them at arm's length 24/7 and I surely don't pack them when I'm in public. Basically... If you're going to advocate...
Agreed. I'd be the last to pretend that I'd be some cool Josey Wales character in a gunfight. I've been in fight or flight panic situations and know what happens to my fine motor skills when those survival
chemicals hit my system. I also know what it feels like to go into shock when you're in a...
Yup... I've shot and dry-fired the K6s a lot in both staged, and full-pull modes (to simulate a panic'd defensive shooting)... and both feel great and the gun is so well balanced that the muzzle barely moves with the long (but smooth) DA pull.
Would hate to have to choose just one blade. Likely one of my Zero tolerance folders, or my Benchmade Bushcrafter. I dunno... any one of my TOPS 1095 blades would be fine to live with as well.
I guess I'd have to narrow my circumstances down... SHTF in town might pick my ZT 0300 heavy folder...
So be it. It's your choice. But it still always comes down to the skills/mindset/training of the shooter AND the would-be murderer... and most of all, the luck (good or bad). More firepower increases the defensive shooter's odds. I get it. But I'm comfortable with my odds with a six-shooter...
All very true... but how much is "enough"? By your own words, you never know. That's why it's all a very personal decision regarding one's risk assessment and hassle vs. convenience. I've been carrying semi-autos concealed for many years. I've never even had to pull mine out... despite carrying...
