I load my .44 Rem Mag "Cowboy" 200 grain RNFP to 950-1,000fps. I would not feel undergunned with it in a SD situation. I carry that load around my farm in the 329PD.

I load Clays for my Cowboy .44 Magnum 205 grain RNFP with 6.0 grains of Clays and a Winchester WLP. Max load for 200 grain RNFP is 6.4 grains.

So far I have been fortunate dealing with S&W. They have been quick to send return shipping labels. I had to send a 351PD back twice before they got it right. I've used their gun smithing services several times with good results. Hopefully they will improve their QC.

I have a 617 6" 10 shot. I sent it back to S&W to put target trigger, target hammer, sights and an action job. Having been done by S&W with documentation cannot hurt IMNSHO. Mine will not be sold in my lifetime, period. I also have a six shot version. I really want a 4" 10 shot some day.
