I have bought and sold a number of guns - both long guns and handguns - and have never blocked out a single s/n. I think that those who do are delusional.

I'm not going to read all of the responses between then and now but I can only go so far in many threads before asking if the responders had read the OP because the responses were barely germane to the topic of discussion.

Don't think that I've ever purchased an S&W new but picked up a Ruger SP-101 2.25" .357 mag. yesterday to accompany my 638 and others.

My father-in-law was known as Grampa COB (crabby old b******) and I try to live up to his memory. Get out of my way!

With only 3 snubbies, I'm not sure that I qualify as a fanboy yet. Also have a 4" GP-100 and some semi-autos.

I try not to go out doors if it is under 70F but am not always successful.
