I’m close to purchasing my first 1911 and think I’ve narrowed the field. It’s definitely going to be a 45 ACP caliber. Stainless steel is also preferred. All comments are welcomed and here are my finalists: Springfield-Armory Loaded, S&W E series, Savage and Ruger.

The 52 grain Amax is one of the best shooting bullets in addition to the 50 grain Blitzking in my Savage 11 22-250. Does Hornady still make this bullet?

I’ve got a max of $1000 to spend on what I hope will be a good scope to shoot at a 1000 yd distance at the farm shooting mostly paper with the hope of prairie dog plinking as well. I’m currently leaning towards a Vortex Viper Gen II 6x25. Any suggestions of others or a comment on Vortex?

My Dad and I have interest in LR target shooting and are inching into it. I’ve noticed that many LR competition shooters are using scopes with first focal plane. I’m not clear on exactly why. All input is welcome! A quality scope is quite an investment!

What’s the significance of using bushing dies?

Is it not fact that I would get more velocity with the identical reload with 26” barrel than a 24”? I’m considering a Savage 12 LRP 6.5 creedmoor used mainly for bench shooting.

My Grandfather was a gunsmith that owned some Minox optics(camera,scope,monocular). He passed away when I was 10 so I had no chance to talk to him, but my Dad speaks highly of Minox. I've priced solely online some but have not actually viewed any Minox optics and wondering if this German outfit...

Savage 12 LRP S&W 1911

I've never owned a heavy barreled rifle, but would like to try some type of target/varmint bolt action to punch mostly paper but hopefully some prairie dogs as well. I've been eyeballing the Savage 12 LRP in .243. Please give me some feedback on the model 12 or any other suggestions.

I just bought a Savage model 11 bolt action 22-250. I've reloaded some 9mm & 40 cal so this will be my first rifle cartridge to reload. Anyone care to share your pet load with me?

I appreciate the comments on different calibers and please continue, but I would like to hear more comments on Savage, Tikka, CZ, Remington and so on.

I've settled on the varmint caliber of 22-250 but am still tossing around which rifle to purchase and yes $ does matter. With that being said the Savage Axis is attractive but would like your opinion. You guys please suggest other options.
