Frank I was asked to research a m27 a while back with this same markings. I discovered that when Austin Airport had its own police force, they marked their guns this way. APPD—Air Port Police Department.

You are correct Bill. I have actually spoke with the Sergeant over the range at that time, he has explained to me how these 2 6 1/2" ers came to be. He has been a wealth of info.

chud, out of the 249 HD's that Austin PD ordered, there were 2 that were reported to have 6 1/2" barrels, rack numbers 6 and 25.
