    A Myth?

    Not all Colt double actions stack. Not all of them have the same type of action. The stacking can be removed by a gunsmith that knows what he is doing. This has been beat to death on the Colt forum. Colt barrels have always had the reputation of being the most accurate. Some say that it is...

    SOLD Pending Funds - FS: S&W 625-6 Mountain Gun .45 Colt

    Sorry for the slow response. Thought I would be notified if I got PMs. The gun is still for sale. However, I lost my job and so now really need the cash rather than a trade. Thanks, Rob

    SOLD Pending Funds - FS: S&W 625-6 Mountain Gun .45 Colt

    ***SPF*** For sale S&W 625-6 Mountain Gun .45 Colt. Stainless with 4" barrel. Like New, in the original box with all paper work. Shot less than 50 rounds. This is one of the most desirable versions (-6) without the integral lock and without the MIM parts. It does have the firing pin in the...

    Oil or wax to protect the finish ?

    Flitz wax seems to be easier to use than Renaissance Wax, imo. BTW, Turnbull Restorations recommends using Rem Oil or G96 ONLY on case coloring and definitely keep all strong bore cleaners away from it for any length of time. I put a rag in the frame opening to catch most of the bore cleaner...

    model 19 and 686

    Model 19 and 66 are K frames. Model 686 is an L frame. The L frame is between the K and N frames in size and usually has the full length under lug.

    Do all cylinders need machining for moonclips?

    No, that's not accurate either. For instance, you can reliably shoot .45 ACPs without moon clips from a TRR M22. They headspace on the case mouth, just as they were originally designed to do in a 1911 Government model.

    Case hardened frames

    I know Ruger uses a chemical to give their guns a color hardened appearance. Does S&W actually color case harden their guns or do they also use a chemical like Ruger?

    45 Colt -> 45 ACP Conversion

    w1mnk...Are you talking about milling the rear of the cylinder to accept moon clips so the gun will shoot .45 Colt and .45 ACP with clips? If so, I am not sure there is a downside. I plan to have it done to my 625 MG in the next few months.

    S&W 25-5

    This is not accurate information. Talk to Jim Stroh at Alpha Precision or Hamilton Bowen. Ask them about Taylor throating.

    S&W 25-5

    Ask Jim Stroh at Alpha Precision about his accuracy package (Taylor Throating). I believe this is the most cost effective ($165) way to correct the problem and will give you a very accurate revolver. http://www.alphaprecisioninc.com/revolver/default.htm
