Is 6+ weeks a normal time frame before anything even starts to be done at the S&W service department? And how does Ruger stack up in this regard?

Never used Hoppes, and I've read a bunch about how S&W says not to use it. I use CLP , and the gun has been cleaned shortly after the few range trips it's had. I know it's only a finish issue, but I'm looking at selling it to get a K frame, and the wormy type corrosion is going to really hurt...

I'm looking to get a laser grip for my 44 mag Mountain Gun, and Crimson Trace lists the LG-314 and LG-207 as fitting n frame round butts, with no explanation of differences besides $289 vs $209. Any insight or advice? Thanks from a newbie to the forum!
