A lady has asked me for information on her Lady Smith.
I have the 3rd. edition of The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson.
First Question: The serial # is BDN6xxx. I can not locate that series in the catalog to provide her a date.
Second Question. It is a 3" heavy barrel model marked...
Model 60's
The two I saw were both 38 Spl. only. I didn't think about the newer 357 Magnum 60's. I have been around too long to think Model 60 and not think 38 Spl.
I suppose that would be tamer than an Airweight in 357 magnum. I have seen a number of those come back to gun shows after...
Model 60's
Both were about 1979 to 1980. So based on your reply you agree that they were a bit pricey? I thought that they were but the prices have been so crazy lately it's hard to know.
What is a NIB, Blue Cardboard Box with Silver Lettering, All Papers, Model 60 likely to bring in your area. I saw not one, but two on a dealers table at a show for $650. each.
I was looking at a S&W Model 66 with what I think are unusual sights. The rear sight is black with a ribbed portion running forward up to the end of the frame. It is adjustable with white outline. The front sight was stainless with a black insert dovetailed into the rear of the sight. The...
A friend purchased a S&W Mod 60 No Dash. He asked me what a specific marking on the crane meant. Below the standard number marking to identify parts was the marking E3 in letters about four times the size of the standard numbers. I have no idea what the marking is. Can someone help?
Thanks
It is not dangerous to tumble live rounds as in they will go off. But...According to an engineer at Winchester...It is dangerous because most commercial powders have a coating on them to control burn. Tumbling or vibrating (the banging together of the rounds) knocks off this coating and the...
Thanks for the help. I am certainly not an expert. This guy is a little older and I think having buyers remorse as he paid $400. for the 63. I told him I thought he did well and that the 63's were a little hard to find for sale.
Thanks. I failed to mention recessed cylinder & I think I remember a pinned barrel. It definitely showed 63 no dash. What approximate value at 98% no box? Blue Book says $350. but I understand that they are commanding more.
I was looking at a friends 63 today. The serial # is M110xxx. He asked me if I could provide a manufacture date.
I thought it was a J Frame. I have an older Roy Jinks book. It shows nothing re: the 63 in the J Frame Chapter and the book is too old to reference the serial #.
