Can I get some help finding out when my 617 was made?

I bought a 617 no dash {4 inch}when they first came out. I'm not sure of the exact date because I'm not sure what I did with the receipt. {might be in the box with the grips} I bought it to carry in the woods, {running traps} so removed the wood combat grips and put on Hogues {answered your...

If I can have only one rifle, which should it be?

Young or old....everyone needs a 22. Down the road, if you do deer then research that then. For now, get a 22

.22 Mag in J-Frames…What Models are There?? Would You CCW One??

For self defense, the noise factor of a 22 mag is a plus. For target is there really any gun that doesn't require ear protection.

    Dry fire a revolver safe?

I am of the belief that you probably need the target practice anyway. Load that gun up and go to shooting. By the time the gun is shot enough to smooth it all out , you should be a decent shot. Both things are accomplished at the same time.

    What's your opinion? 43c- UPDATE

What I take away from all the threads on the 43c is to not buy a used one. So many report playing with the spring weights and firing pin length. {to lighten the trigger pull} First thing many seem to do is pretend that they are gunsmiths and then give up and sell it. This appears to be a gun...

    1911’s I’m considering

Several years ago, I faced this situation. I decided to get something that was Mil Spec with a series 70 trigger in a light weight commander size . I went with the 45 cal SR 1911 light weight commander. I changed the grips to Hogue rubber, because I like the way they feel on this particular...

LGS Find: Model 49; Worth the Price?

The shop owner did every one a favor. The tire kickers won't ask to see it. It won't be covered with fingerprints and have the trigger snapped a thousand times and the cylinder Hollywood treated while waiting for an actual serious buyer. Someone with actual money.

LGS Find: Model 49; Worth the Price?

Obviously priced so they can dicker. It is nice to hold the gun before plunking down any money. I've spent an awful lot of money on gas over the years finding deals. If it is something you have been looking for then I would go with dickering on my mind and do a bit of talking with cash money...

What separates the best holster craftsman from the rest?

After buying a lot of different brands that didn't quite work. I have saved a lot of money by just ordering either a Kramer or a Milt Sparks right off the bat. Chest holster is Diamond D. I'm all done giving other holsters a chance. I don't need any more that only sort of work. {either ride...

    63 double action work

In my opinion, the best way to smooth out a trigger on any gun,is to get a few bricks of ammo and shoot it. It not only should smooth it, you will get some practice. A few bricks of 22 is a lot cheaper and the parts accustom themselves to each other while you and the 63 do to. Just my opinion...

    Flutes changes

Beveled This gun was issued to my dad. He was called back to duty by the Navy to serve with The Admiralty staff for the Pacific Fleet during the Korean conflict. He was issued this and 2 1911's. as personal weapons. I'm not sure of the issue date and my dad is no longer here to ask.

Would you buy a micro compact DA/SA chambered in 30 Super Carry?

I think a re-introduction of some discontinued models {649, 632 } would be a better use of resources than producing ANOTHER new model that requires new cartridge development and ammo supply.
