    Suggestions for BOOKS?

Hi All, I am interested in any and all suggestions for quality BOOKS which include: - firearm history / use during- WWI, WWII and/or - technical details of firearms discussed and/or - quality photographs, etc, etc. As one collector has aptly said, "Before you buy GUNS, buy BOOKS!" Makes...

What's your most recent firearm purchase, and why did you buy it?

I am one gun away from being happy Hairtrigger.... you're one gun away... what gun do you have in your sights for that last one??

What's your most recent firearm purchase, and why did you buy it?

Well, my most recent purchase now is that Colt 1911 in 9 mm I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. I finally traded my shooter Luger for the 1911 because my gunsmith friend liked the Luger so much- and he has ways and means of fine tuning the new holdopen which took 2 months to get...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

A short update- After that last cleaning, trigger is 98% back to where it was before. Sometimes when changing to a new mag, the first shot seems to have a heavier than normal trigger pull; after that it fires very well. Think I'll let well enough alone for now. Great gun the 41!

What's your most recent firearm purchase, and why did you buy it?

Hi All! The first gun I ever bought for myself is the 1980 built Model 41 (2 years ago) which I am still shooting almost every time I'm at the range. Was having some trouble recently with the trigger, but that seems to be solved thanks to the help of several very nice experts' advice and a bit...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

Hi All, A short update, After that cleaning described above, the trigger seems to be virtually normal now. No problems with about 50 rounds. Trigger pull is as it was before- fairly light- so no adjustments have been made to the trigger adjustment lever at all. Must have been dirt and metal...

Model 41 hammer lost a chunk at the half cock - concern?

If you have only just now noticed it, as you say, it could have been like this for a longer time. The hammer strikes only a small plunger behind the firing pin to fire the gun. When you do a standard field strip you should be able to see the part of the hammer that actually strikes that...

    Looking for year of production

Here's a listing I found for the Model 41. Looks like yours was built in 1969 :) Nice find!!

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

Remember to oil just a wee bit along both slides and a drop or so down where the safety is placed on the inside of the outside of it. Move it back and forth a few times to engage and release a few times as well. Thanks!! I did just that when adding just a bit of oil (Ballistol) into the...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

Thank you!! 2 photos before- before (when this trouble started) and after (cleaning with degreaser yesterday) I did not remove any parts- only cleaned as described....

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

Hi All, I took the grips off and sprayed the action with a citrus-based degreaser, then let it sit for 5 minutes, after which I poured very hot water over the action to remove the debreaser (It's water soluble). Then placed the gun in the oven at 50 degC (113 deg F) - not quite hot enough to...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

I bought a used model 41 and had the same issues as you-sometimes the gun would not fire, pulling the trigger I would feel no movement, then sometimes it would fire a few rounds. I discovered the trigger stop was adjusted out too far-right at the edge of function. I screwed it in a little bit...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

Well, I think the trigger pivot pin is in quite tight... but I do know that the action was quite dirty as you can see from the photo. I have a friend with a compressor... I'll see him on Sunday most likley, then get to work. Thanks for all the tips!! I'll let you know!! Need to get hold of a...

    Model 41 trigger suddenly frozen

The trigger pivot pin- just behind the serial no on the left side, and the "Model 41" on the right side? That should slide back and forth?? Didn't expect that at all.....

    S&w 41

So sixpointfive.... Your first post was almost a week ago. What's happening with your 41 now? Have you tried her out?? I bought a 41 over a year ago (built in 1980) and have shot many rounds through it. It certainly is a joy to shoot.... they are hard to find here in the Netherlands. Do...
