Rusty fingers and a Highway Patrolman

I have the same problem as you, any time I would go to the local gun shop the guy behind the counter had a silicone gun cloth to wipe down whatever I was handling. While you can do as you choose why spend the money on a plated finish(you can buy a lot of ammo for $300) When I clean my guns I...

    45 ACP for revolvers

My favorite load was a185gr. swc over 5.5grs of supertarget, used the same round in both my auto and my 625, never had bullet creep or accuracy issues, i still dont understand the hate for moon clips, their so simple a caveman could use them, besides i'm getting old enough i dont want to bend...

4 Screw Highway Patrolman not marked Model 28

D Brown, I have a M28-0 four screw with serial number S214XXX also, I see yours has the lazy ampersand on the barrel, mine has a normal "&", the SCSW says mine was made somewhere around 1961

    M25-5 .45 LC Snub - Opinions Please

If it was my personal revolver I would find a replacement hammer, just not a fan of the bobbed spur look, other than that it's a fine looking piece.

Finally Added a Nickel Gun to the Family

You can take a stainless steel Smith of your choice and polish it to mirror finish and while it will nice it just lacks the warmth and depth you get from a nickle plated Smith. That is one beautiful M29-2 and you are correct, there is just something about a 4" barrel that makes you smile.

The ultimate Highway Patrolman thread.including N frame ser# ranges

From what I have read on this forum I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to what Smith & Wesson does.

The ultimate Highway Patrolman thread.including N frame ser# ranges

I stopped by my local gun shop to see if there was anything new, I found this Model 28 in the case, it has some blue wear on the muzzle and a few dings on the rib but other than that it's in pretty good shape. The serial number (S214XXX) puts it somewhere in 1961, it has 4 screws, 3 in the side...

Who likes & uses the Original Lee Auto Prime tool?

I have an Auto Prime that I brought 20 plus years ago, I have primed literally thousands of .45acp and .45 colt cases without any issues. I used to put just a drop of oil on the pivot points every now and then, what I didn't like was on my progressive re-loader was sometimes powder would get on...

    New L Frame Grip Panels

The fit on the back strap is good, overall finish is excellent, I don't think they are Altamonts, here are the two they offer. Plus the Altamonts were twice the price.

    New L Frame Grip Panels

I wanted to replace the ugly rubber grips on my 686-4 so I bought some k/l frame round butt panels from Midway, the description says they are diamondwood which is I think is birch ply stained to look like walnut, that was ok and that is what I thought I would be receiving but what I got was...

    Model 59 Safety Lever Broke

PJO1425, I know what you mean, if you look at a blued safety or slide release you can see a slight difference in color, both are two piece assemblies, the manual safety on my model 59 was a complete failure, it almost looked like metal fatigue and it just broke, sometimes you can tell a piece...

    Model 59 Safety Lever Broke

jsbethel, thank you for the hot link, I tried looking at numrich and found a nickle plated safety, while my 59 is nickle finish the safety and slide release are blued, I just placed an order for the one in your link.

    Model 59 Safety Lever Broke

I don't think it was any to hot, winchester white box 124gr. fmj. Just glad it was at the range because the safety must have clicked to on so the gun is useless until fixed, when I try to cock it the hammer drops like it is on safe.

    Model 59 Safety Lever Broke

Hi all, went to the range today and thought I would shoot my Models 39-2 and 59, the 39-2 performed well. The problem was the 59, got done shooting a full mag and the safety lever fell off, broken in two pieces. anyone else ever see this happen?? I'm hoping I can get a replacement safety from...
