The artisans at King could take a GREAT pre-war S&W and make it GREATER! Nice catch, in my favorite condition. Very Good but enough wear I can Choot it :)

It says ORIGINAL finish and FROSTY bore? Looks like two gouges in the side of the cylinder under the bluing, and no turn line? Difficult to be sure from photos!

Added Colt Letter in original post. He was sent these 4 guns a month after US declared war on Germany. This one returned to factory engraved in 1919. According to Mr. Rayburn (RIP) 151 total 1st Series guns were factory engraved.

Another great feature of the newer models is being drilled and tapped for a scope mount. I put a scope on my M69 4.25" for load testing and it was impressive. After I finished I installed a Bowen rough country sight instead of the factory rear. Much nicer to me. I think Elmer might be toting a...

Enjoyed meeting him in Boise at SWCA and talking with him on the phone. His books are great reads as are his many articles. Sad to hear of his passing and we will miss him, but he knew where he was going :) Prayers and Comfort for his Family and Friends.
