What's your favorite color for stocks on various revolver finishes?

I prefer blued steel with wood grips. On the few stainless revolvers I own I prefer black grips, either rubber or preferably G-10.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

Barrel length seemed to be a regional thing back in the day. When I lived down south 4” bbl was the norm, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and 6” bbl was common (& I was issued an used M28-2 6” that I purchased when we went to auto pistols).

    New Marlin 1894

FWIW, the first centerfire rifle I ever purchased (after my Ruger 10/22) was a Marlin 1894 around 1977 (on sale, $119 + tax). I like the fact there’s no crossbolt safety but the wood on that forend is pretty rough. All my Marlin 1894’s made since then are better, but Marlin was evidently going...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

One of my guys, who was issued an used 92F had the trigger spring break while we were qualifying at the range. I installed Wolff trigger springs in both my M9’s several years ago (one less thing to worry about). I own several Beretta 92’s in varying configurations and most of them have D...

    Things Change

TOTALLY AGREE! Nothing is more expensive, or stupid than war.

    Things Change

My Dad was in the Korean War and I went to Korea in 1973, twenty years after the ceasefire and it was like a third world country. When I got off the Northwest Orient airliner at Osan AB there was a ROKAF F-86 parked off the runway as well as a halftrack. (I flew home a couple years later on...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

In my experience as a LE Firearms Instructor, it was the same guys that always had FTF’s while qualifying, mostly due to inadequate maintenance (lack of lubrication for starters). I cleaned my service revolver/pistol at least weekly during my career, sometimes more often due to weather. I’ve...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

I remember when that occurred at Fairchild AFB… (wasn’t there but there was a lot of talk about it in LE.)

    9mm Snub-nose

The rounds got sticky in my M940 as it heated up, which made qualifying with it a little more challenging but I always figured, in the real world how likely is it you’d have to reload your BUG?

BPLE 115 +P+ in Model 59 question for ISPCpt and others

I bought a new M59 in 1977 or ‘78 (and still have it). It was recalled a couple times, although I don’t remember any problems with it. It must have been put together around noon on Wednesday because it is as reliable and accurate as any other pistol I own.

    9mm Snub-nose

I don’t know for sure when the M940 was introduced but the first I heard of them was in the early 1990’s and I ordered one from my LGS immediately. I carried it as a BUG until the department shifted to .40 S&W, but I still have it. It’s a good little revolver.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

I carried an issued Beretta 92F for ten years, it was a good pistol that served the department well. I don’t remember ever having a FTF with mine.

    Lever action assault rifles

All my lever actions are blued steel & walnut and that’s part of my attraction to them. If I want an “assault rifle” I’ll reach for one of my AR’s (some of which are equipped with weapon-lights) or one of my AK’s. No firearm feels as good in your hands as a nice, unadorned lever action rifle...

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

I carried my issued M28-2 (6” bbl) from 1979-89, when the department went to auto pistols.

    1975 Model 66-1

You Collectors know more about this than I do, but wasn’t there an issue with excessive heat in the cylinders of the first M-66’s?
