    Thanks to everybody for their knowledge and comments I am looking through my "old" grips for something appropriate for the RM to wear... does anybody recognize these grips?

    oh, you guys are good... I measured the barrel to the cylinder face and it is 7". Good eye, everyone who realized it was longer than 6". so far, i just intend to put on grips i prefer over the thumb rest... I will fire a few rounds out of it today and report back... i really appreciate that...

    I never did much research into these as I never thought I would be in a position to purchase one. But I found one today in a gun shop, priced as a normal S&W.... It is serial # 51xxx and it has reg. 2003 about a 6" barrel some bluing wear on the left side of muzzle and drag marks around...

    WTS: 25-5 4" nickel with box 99%+ .45 colt

    Near Mint, absolutely gorgeous, fired very little, if at all before I did. I fired a cylinder of jacketed rounds and a cylinder of cast lead rounds to see if I could tell a difference in the accuracy between the rounds. I couldn't, but I have experienced the phenomenon in other revolvers. .45...
