Just a few pix after "re-gripping", so to speak, the 686+, and a couple of 66's (a -2 and -5, have got to love those!) Steve g

Model 60 or 642 for home defense?

It is my understanding that the principal virtue of an alloy-framed firearm is that it is easier to carry. Since this is of no concern for HD, I would concur that a heavier model would be preferable to a M642 or the like--a steel-framed gun would be easier to shoot (less felt recoil), and would...

    Model 19 What to do???

Well, until those more knowledgeable chime in, I'll give you my 2¢. 1) Comparing recent prices on 2 1/2" and 3" M66's (stainless version of the M19), 3" models seem to be commanding almost twice as much as 2 1/2" models. 2) I'm pretty sure the 629 models are priced markedly higher. 3) People...

    "almost" a 3" K-frame

Iggy, thanks! Bob, the Six is a "square butt", so that's as low as the back gets (but I hear you, some people grind down the frame to more "round".)

    "almost" a 3" K-frame

Like others on the forum, I have found K-frames to be particularly nice revolvers, and I’ve been fortunate enough to add a couple of 2½” models to my modest collection over the last year or two. However, I’ve been reluctant to pay almost twice as much for a 3” model, as judging by the recent...

    Picture Thread! Snubby 66's ONLY!

My only picture that qualifies, sorry that it's a repeat. I think the satin finish on this -5 looks pretty spiffy, and while wood grips look great, these Uncle Mike combats are really comfortable for shooting. Recently acquired a 66-2, will try to post a pic:

    Mod. 63-4, 5 inch worth $599 used??Photos added

There are others on the forum far more knowledgeable than me, but I do sort of keep an eye on the prices on Gunbroker, and a quick check on M63s shows them to generally be priced at least around that number (plus you would save shipping and transfer fees.) So depending on condition, probably...

    Best Grip of All Time

There's no question the wood grips look beautiful, but Uncle Mike's combat grips fit me to a tee, and cover the back strap, which I feel helps manage recoil.

    I see S&W copied ...

Not to be a know-it-all, but I do know a little about intellectual property, including patents, and the above comments are generally on track, there is precious little in these revolvers that would be subject to patent protection, other than minor refinements that compertitors could most likely...

    5-shot, 6-shot, 7-shot

Thanks for the support about the "affliction" guys! Jerry, the Uncle Mikes on the J-frame have a very similar feel to the K and L frames, but are definitely slighter smaller in size, as evident in first picture. I would expect they would be particularly well-suited to someone with smaller...
