Local shop took in a 3" M66-3 that looks perfect cosmetically and has the factory rubber grips on it . There is no box or papers but I want this as a shooter/carry piece, not a safe queen .
What would be a fare price for it ?
Thanks,
Nick

It depends on the dash or engineering change. You mentioned it had factory rubber grips, which would be a later gun (-5 or 6), but a fair price would be in the $600 range. Others will debate what a fair price for the seller would be :) .

3" K frame .357s have gotten very pricey recently, and if it is a 66-2 a few have sold for high 3 figures very recently.

What is the price that the shop is asking for it?

Wow ! Are you planning to shoot it ? I want to shoot it/carry it, not collect it and put it away .

Nick - it doesn't matter what anybody would do with a 66 3" gun.
These guns are kinda in "Cult" status right now - others have sold between $1000-$2000.
The one you have found is a smokin' deal and I would love to see you post some pictures after you buy it and then be able to tell us how it shoots. Good Luck!

One last hint:
The "Sharks" have been Googling the White pages in {SW FL.} since 1:28 pm

Gander Mtn has one

If anyone is interested, Gander in Palm Beach Fl, exit 77 off I95 has a 66-6 3 inch in mint condition for $599. It was there Friday the 28th, in the used gun window. Said it had box, not my type of gun but hope someone who is looking for one gets it.

Is it just the 3" models that command those types of prices? What about the shorter 2 1/2" model 66's?

I just paid 620.00 for a -3 and thought I got a good deal-no box or papers 2 sets of grips,I would say jump with both feet!:)

Got it, $575.00 +tax . Also I was mistaken. It is unfired with the box, paperwork and the extras that are still sealed .
Serial # is BFK1083 . Can someone date it for me ?
Also I'm a camera/internet noob but I have a couple of I- Phone pics . I can e-mail them to someone if they would please post them here .
This gun came from an estate . Also with it and still there was a 4" nickel M27 in a presentation case . It was un-fired and had small factory wood grips on it . It was high at $1200.00 .

He better be sitting at home dehydrated in a pool of drool! With a new friend at his side.
