    Just bought a 9mm Shield...next step?

When dry-firing, use snapcaps. You don't have to eject them out each time you rack the slide, but only pull the slide a little bit.

    9 Shield Stove Pipes

OP, don't worry. As others have said, firmer grip should reduce or eliminate the stove pipes. The stiff recoil spring doesn't help either when breaking in the handgun. Compared to other larger handguns I shoot, with the Shield 9mm, I have to consciously hold it tighter to get a decent cycle...

I'm not a Glock guy, but...

If you plan to carry, both will work. Shield 9mm is a softer shooter but I thought Glock 43 felt more concealable. For non-carry, I would get a larger handgun.

    Cure for Shield shooting left

Simple recommendation: use what works for you. I shoot low and left ( on 8 inch target at 7 yards away) only with the Shield 9mm when firing rapidly, but no problem with larger handguns. The fix for me was to pull the trigger with the joint of the index finger and hold the Shield really tight...

    Newbie Question

If the slide doesn't return fully to original position, pulling the trigger let's the trigger go forward, but no "bang"

    Target ammo for Shield 9

Use sgammo.com as a baseline for price/shipping and then Google search ( ammo search engine ) to pick a better price/shipping cost. Some ammo vendor has low price on ammo but ridiculously high shipping charge.

    Ballistol Question for M&P...

I use both. The aerosol for hard to reach places. Amazon or other sellers have them in various combo packs. Be ready for the SMELL. I got used to it, but oh... man!... wasn't ready for the first whiff!

    Target ammo for Shield 9

May not be the answer you are expecting but practice with any cheap ammo until you feel comfortable and then practice with your SD ammo until you know how the weapon feels (i.e. kicks more, cycles ok, etc ). Buy the FMJ ammo online by the case - be willing to pay about $200 - $220 shipped

Shield 9 safety or no safety

My recommendations: - Carry with no hardware safety and ready to fire - Practice draw and fire (or dry fire) until you have a muscle memory. - Learn to move and get under cover to reduce exposure. Don't just stand there presenting a static target. Finally, the most important aspect of...

How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

    $349 online/free shipping for 9mm w/o safety + $30 transfer fee at LGS = $379 out-of-the-door

    Shield wait time

Search slickguns or use other online engine ( search google for gun search engine). I use slickguns to get a baseline price. Shield WITH safety is aplenty.

    shield 9mm accuracy

Yes. Shield does have trigger reset, but IMHO NOT as distinctive as the Glock reset.

Accuracy expectations with my Shield 9?

OP, you ARE a competent shooter! Enjoy the shield.

Shield barrel imperfections - is this normal?

My barrel, I just looked, is not so clean as the "better" picture here and looks similar to the OP's picture. But I am getting better grouping now compared to first time at the range. My first time shooting Shield 9mm sent rounds very low and left... Took some time to change trigger...
