    It's home 629-4

apollo99 Great gun and I have been trying to find a 5" 629-4 ( or -3) since I put the ad in the forum. The 5" has the best balance of even the 4", 6" or 6 1/2". Hopefully, I will buy it soon. I know S&W is making the N.I.B 5" now but I want no MIM and lock like yours.

    Best current production carry revolver

I carry the S&W 329 loaded with 44 specials. It is plenty light enough for me, also carry 44 magnums if I run into a bear and they do have them here. It is either that or a Dan Wesson CCO in 45 but they weight the same

Model 29 or 629 -- which would you buy?

I got rid of my SW 29's and now only buy SW 629's and without the lock and no MIM parts, same with the J-frame and 686-3 and 686-4.

Buying new 586 - what to look for before purchasing?

If you are buying a new gun you will not be concerned with marred screws which are a bad sign the side plate was removed and a worse sign that the owner or gunsmith did not use the right screw driver (and if they did not use the right screw driver what else did they mess up?) With a new gun I...

"Late" S&W Revolver Timing: a Problem?

I have 3 S&W 629's, several J-frames and several S&W 686's ( before they added the lock) and all do not do this. They all locked in the recesses when the hammer is pulled back slowly and all are timed perfectly. I would suggest this is a safety issue and should be fixed.
