    Older Holsters found

Thanks SG! This is a nice addition and a lot of info. As Kevin mentioned, one still has to figure out what the 82's, etc mean, but this is a big help! Mike

Thanks for help, Kevin. I get it that specific info on these holsters is hard to come by. Appreciate you specifying the MTW for the Match Target, that's definitely a clarification. Mike

    Older Holsters found

Hey Kevin in O, Apologies for getting into an old thread, but since you apparently found The Golden Fleece, aka Idaho Leather Holster Chart, (congrats BTW!), any chance you would do me the favor of looking-up what a Eubanks 89 L is for? Currently have brain fog and can't think of what the L...

    TL mfg date

I know there was a helpful thread on dating SW's, but have been unable to locate it. Trying to find the date my TL # 5798 was made, can anyone point me in the direction of that thread? Thanks.

Again, my world is expanded a little! I thot there were only "collectors" and "shooters", but certainly nothing wrong w/"collecting shooters" I reckon! Maybe I'm more of a collector than I thot... I will try to heed your advice on protecting the Magnas. Since my intent was always to carry...

I haven't found any star, diamonds or dates on the exterior, including cylinder, yoke and shroud, of this gun. Nor are there any of these under the grips, but there is a minute T at about the 1 o'clock position above the bottom stud for the right grip (photo attached) Thanks for your help.

Very helpful to see your fine Second Model - thanks! It's a beautiful piece and gives me more understanding of the type of modifications that were apparently somewhat common for these vintages revolvers. Have learned quite a bit in this thread; much appreciated!

Yes, I thought the hammer had been replaced as I explained in a previous reply to another post, due to my ignorance on the subject. You and the others have disabused me of this notion, and have added to my previously-existing amazement of what the "practitioners of the metallurgical arts" could...

Very much appreciate your perspective, and I will look into what the color case hardening will take, both $$ and time. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for calling my attention to the possible quality of the reblue, something I tend to not appreciate as it of course detracts from the original value of the piece. Since we're talking about "shooters", I probably need to change my frame of reference a bit. I think your point about the...

I hadn't appreciated that cutting-off and rebuilding hammer spurs was that common in the days before commercial target hammers were available. Seems like it would have been a tough job, but as you point-out there were obvious a bunch of smiths capable and willing to do it. Before you wised me...
