I am looking at buying one of two model 29-2s. The 6" barrel is a clean 98% gun. The 6 1/2" is still a 98%er but not quite as nice with more barrel tip bluing wear and a little cylinder rash on one chamber from a holster. Which would you prefer?

What about this one. I have never shot a Mod 29 recessed and non recessed back to back. A buddy of mine that is fairly experienced swears the non recessed kicks harder. Any of you agree or disagree on that one?
OK-Lets toss in one more variable. I have always liked the six inch barrel in the 357. I know there are a lot of longer barrel fans in the 44 mag club-around eight inches. Which do you prefer-sixish or eightish?
I am thinking about getting a model 29 and generally I, being old school, prefer a pinned and recessed -2. I have heard that for a shooter the later threaded barrel is better/stronger. Not to get a biased opinion considering the subforum I am on but which dash model do you consider best?

Dave, I have a H.P. 28-2 mfg in 1978. The N frame target grips I have are mfg a few years too late for me because they have the speed loader cutout. They are like yours-near perfect Goncalo alves. I have been looking for a set like yours for a while-would you consider trading or selling yours...
