I have the same on my Glock 23.
How was the install? What did you use to push the sights in the dovetail?
I really dont want to spend on a sight pusher that I will use once.
Whe here has gotten their C&R to collect these (and others) revolvers?
Has it helped with gunbroker auctions?
All of these years should qualify for C&R as they are over 50 years old correct?
Very nice post!
This is my next "want" Id love to find a decent condition one but not so nice as not to ever shoot. example. Al original matching numbers early one with the tapered barrel. I just love the look of that tapered and pinned barrel.
WOnder what the going price is for my area (SW...
Shot it in poor conditions for the first time today. Accuracy was surprising considering the gusty winds (30 mph+) and not having target sights.
Very cool to shoot a gun as old as this and have it function as new. Ill e on the look out now for another "pre 10" But in 4" this time. But first Its...
An early K-38 is next on my list. Like the K-22 so much I want its big brother.
Im not one to go by as Im new at vintage S&W revolvers but if 96% Id pay $600
Same for me on powders that are very easy to double charge (low gr loads). Used my lyman auto charge unit and checked then loaded each case as the next charged up.
Did some test loads today. Hard to judge accuracy as it was quite windy but the 3.1 and 3.5 gr were the best.
Going to go for 3.1 gr of bullseye
Easy recoiling and on the gun and decent accuracy, especially as I dont see the sights as good as adjustable targets like on the Colt Officers Model...
Interesting you say that. I do also have some power pistol and didnt think of using it as I tend to think of faster burning = higher velocities = more pressure but you say its the opposite. Your explanation makes sense and the books show power pistol and unique using slightly more powder so...
Just grabbed the Hornady book.
158 gr SWC and Bullseye using a 4" barrel the have:
Starting load
2.8 gr--650fps
3.1 gr 700fps
3.4 gr 750fps
Max
3.7 gr 800 fps
Dont see me going over 3.2 gr
May try 2.8 and work up to 3.1 going at 0.1 per increase testing for accuracy.
I understand the double charge possibilty. Same goes wit 700x. I reload .38 spl as closely, and maybe even more so than my rifle loads.
Each one hits the scale before going in and no distractions allowed.
What sort of loads should I look at doing?
Have some Hornady 158 gr SWC on order and about 3 lbs of Bullseye.
Does any one have pet loads for target shooting?
Should I be looking at the minimum/powder puff loads or can I use the Hornady manual and go up to about 725 to 750 fps loads (forget...
I can make out under a bright light at the right angle markingd in pencil of the s/n or at least defiantly the last 4 numbers of it And they match.
Really curious about the brass inventory tsg, at least that's what I assume it is.
