Some carryover advice from a former knife sharpener

I've met some of those same liars. I have not dropped a gun, so far, but have had a knife mishap involving a heavy, sharp knife and a bare foot. No tendons were cut, no infection ensued, so it was all good.

    Hot loads in Model 66?

I don't get on the net as often as I would like due to eye problems, which I will get corrected 11/12/13. After reading your post, I may buy another 66 off the web. If the forcing cone looks thin, then I'll just start looking for another barrel and cylinder. I would actually rather have a 616...

    Do you re-load?

Seriously? I used $25.00/lb for powder, $30.00/1,000 primers, $88.00 + $15.00 shipping for 41 mag, $63.00 + 15.00 shipping for 9mm in my calculations. At the last gun show, I paid $>25.00 for powder, and $30.00/1000 primers. That come out to be: reloaded 41 mag $9.85 vs. Factory >$50.00...

    Do you re-load?

I used to reload for others, until I was reloading some 45 LC for a guy and found a horribly bulged case. It was a 44 mag! This guy had accidentally put a 44 mag in his 45 LC and fired it. Only the strength of revolver's design saved him. The thoughts of someone doing something so stupid with...

Which Do You Prefer .22 short, 22 CB Long, 22 Sub-Sonic

I use 22 shorts, but that is because my pistol slide is marked 22 Corto.

    .44 special ammo WOWSER!!!!

The cheapest I've seen is $50.00 a box, plus shipping. I just got a bunch of brass from Starline, so I definitely won't be buying any ammo at $1.00 a pop.

Are there smokeless 44 special rounds?

That's true. I bought a bunch of odds and ends from a pawn shop that included some loose 44 spls. Imagine my dismay when I fired a round that gave off a tremendous cloud of white smoke, and that familiar BP smell. Having to bathe my revolver afterwards really ticked me off.

    Too much ammo?

This short answer is no. In the past, when ammo was easily available, I would buy it if it was cheaper than I could reload (factoring in the cost of brass). I accumulated a modest amount.

    Glock Kabooms vs. 3rd Gens

For the OP's question, no. My 17, 20, and 21 are all still in one piece in spite of eating a lot of reloads. That being said, I still rue the day I passed up a 1006 that was reasonably priced. I have a wild hair about 10mm guns, currently owning a Glock 20, Colt Delta Elite, S&W 610, and an IAI...

    Hot loads in Model 66?

My stomach lurched a bit when I read your proposed loading. I once owned (and loved very much) a 66. It never saw a 125 gr. bullet, and only a couple of boxes of factory 158 gr 357 loads. The rest of its diet was 38 specials, and very mild 357 handloads. The forcing cone still cracked. With my...

    Hello from North Carolina

I'm new to the forum, but have owned S&W revolvers for many years. Shooting a fine gun is great. Not having to chase the brass is priceless. I'm looking forward to reading a forum devoted to S&Ws of all stripes.
