    Colt SAA?

Colt SAA an Cowboy shooting I on't know if you are aware or not, but Colt I make a special model for Cowboy Action Shooting. It didn't have the Colt original firing mechanism, but rather a form of a transfer bar safety similar to the modern Rugers. It sold new for under $500. It did not...

Does anybody know why the NG revolvers were dropped?

At least one of the gun mags really panned the 325, esp about light primer hits and misfires and some kind of moon clips problems. I don't remember much more, but it killed my idea of buying one. Taurus had a nifty snubby .45 ACP that was ported and had special rubber grips for recoil. It was...

Private Security Officer Asks For Your Permit How Do You Handle It

I think I see one possible problem that has been overlooked. Had they been in a bar together? Around here, CCW is strictly forbidden in any place serving alcohol. (they are trying to get an exemption for restaurants that also serve alcohol That could have opened a BIG can of worms. And I...

    SEARCHING FOR THE MOST "ACCURATE"

re blow-back guns--I think all Hi-points are blow-back, for what it's worth. My experience is Match Grade guns can be temperamental and require a lengthy break in. There is only one pistol I know of where it's accuracy is insufficient, and this is the WWII Liberator .45( no rifling)

    What's your most accurate Revolver?

    My 2 most accurate: S&W 25 in .45 ACP and my Ruger Single Action .22 , 7 1/2 " revolver. I have a pre 17 S&W and a S&W 18 and a Colt Huntsman, but the Ruger is the most accurate .22

The Ultimate Performance Center revolver thread ?

I have got a 625 Performance Center revolver in .45ACP. So far, I'm unimpressed. It's bad enough it has the cursed lock, but the frame-mounted firing pin is the pits. I had to buy and install an Apex firing pin to get it to fire reliability, (as in a MINIMUM of 1 round per cylinder, up to 4...

Stupid things you did as a kid

A friend of mine told me this story: He was trying to charge up a CO2 (i believe) bottle to try to use for a homemade SCUBA tank. He was trying for 3,000psi, but the CO2 bottle wasn't rated for that. He and his Dad put in a door in the basement where the bottle went thru the outside wall.

    Firing pin replacement.

I put an Apex firing pin in my 625PC. Not it always fires. I didn't remove the, just the hammer spring. Used a pair of tweezers to remove the pin and spring.

Ruger vs S&W for quality and reliability

Right now S&W is not on my favorite list. I recently bought a lightly used 625PC. Turned out it had a LOT of misfires from light primer strikes. After a little research, it appears to be a common problem with a lot of the newer Smith's It seems that the firing pin length is marginal with a...

    My Shield went boom.

Earlier, there were questions about sealed primers. S&B seals their primers in with red stuff, so at least one manufacturer uses it on commercial ammo.

45 ACPWheel Gun Love It Or Leave It

Two things. First, I don't use moon clips except in my Webley. I've always been able to shake out or pick out the empties with a fingernail. Second. .45ACP is a LOT cheaper than .45Colt, yet the ballistics are similar. And Ruger Revolvers with .45ACP cylinders are great to shoot with, the...

    Dirty Harry Model 29

I have also read that, at least the first movie, a model 25 was used in the shooting scenes with the 5n1 blanks. If you put a 25 and a 29 side by side you couldn't tell the difference

New Starline Brass - Need Sizing?

I use a Lee turret press and it sizes and primes on the same operation (unless you remove the die) Judging by the minimal resistance, the Starline doesn't need much or any sizing.

    Lee Pro 1000?

I agree with the others-GET the Turret/ auto indexing. I have a Pro 1000 and NEVER got it to work properly. I bought a used Lee turret press and then bought the Auto Index upgrade ( it was an OLD press!) BIG IMPROVEMENT. The Pro was Extremely Finicky, the Turret was much simpler and more...
