    Reduced recoil 38spcl ammo

Lotta good info and advice in the responses so far. Are you looking for lower recoiling rounds for target shooting? For defensive purposes? How big or small of a revolver? Subtly

    Ammo Choice

Like I said, whatever one feels comfortable with...go for it. And who knows, maybe all the flash and bang from a full house magnum touched off in a dimly lit hallway will scare off the zombies all by itself! Subtly

    Ammo Choice

There is no magic round for handguns concerning self defense. All (45,357,10mm, whatever) are really weak compared to rifle or shotgun. Advantage of handguns is thier, well, handiness. Pick a round you feel comfortable with and forget about it. My HD revolver is loaded with the old FBI load...

    S&W lock failure--it finally happened

I think revolvers are out-dated for LEO use only because of capacity. So, you're saying a brand new, well-maintained modern SW (a no-lock model) or Ruger revolver that's been proven reliable after 4-5 hundred rounds fired is not as trustworthy as modern pistols of the same circumstances? Subtly

    S&W lock failure--it finally happened

New around here, and let me say up front I will not have a serious use Smith with with the IL. I don't need to be convinced it's a really bad idea. But, I don't understand all the "likes" for the origianl post. We're glad a firearm chad a catastrophic failure? Subtly

Would you buy a new-production S&W revolver online (sight unseen)?

Yes, I would, and I have. Purchased four brand new, sight unseen, Smiths over the last nine years or so. From most recent to oldest: 640 pro (no-lock). 625 performance center 45. Model 18 "classic". 442 no-lock. No issues. None. Sold the 625 as my old hands can't take the pounding they used to...

    Ammunition choice?

Hollow points good if you feel confident they will expand and you don't mind the recoil. 148 grain target wad cutters an option for guaranteed penetration and minimal recoil for faster follow up shots. See luckygunner.com site for recent testing they did on various 38 rounds
