Since I bought a "new" Smith & Wesson revolver. That one was my first handgun, a Model 19, probably a -4. It got traded for a Colt 1911 when I got bit by the IPSC bug back then.

I don't know how many I've bought used since then. Some of them were in LNIB condition, but someone else had always owned them before me.

When I heard that S&W was bringing back the Model 19, I knew I'd buy the first one I saw.

And I did. Well, it was actually the second one, they went and got another one out of back and put the floor sample back in the case.

The only thing I don't like is the extra .2" of barrel. It just makes the barrel look "long" to me. I'm a 4" barrel snob. :D

The big three don't bother me. The lock and the MIM never did really, and they're here to stay so I'm OK with them. I've owned several Dan Wesson's with two piece barrels, so that's not a concern. I like the grips and the color, which is more of a black than a blue. Still looks nice I think.

The sights are on straight, the lockup is tight. The trigger is smooth in D/A and crisp in S/A.

Now I just need to get it to the range. Maybe tomorrow.

Any shortcomings in the way it looks is a result of my crummy lighting, and poor photography skills.

That's a great looking revolver. I can't wait to hear how it shoots for you. Congrats.

Congrats, and though I like the older ones as much as the new, there's nothing like being the first owner of a newly minted revolver.

I'm happy to see the new 19s out in the wild. I really like them and am considering buying one at some point. I like the idea of having basically the perfected combat magnum. I have a 6in 66 and wouldn't mind a 4in 19 as a companion piece but at the prices I have to pay for like a -3 I think I'd rather buy a new one without the forcing cone issues.

Nice. Sounds like you've been around a few more years than me. So. I'm curious, you plan on changing out front site for something a little more visible?

Subtly

Congrats! I picked up my Classic 19 a couple weeks ago myself. I too once owned an "Old" 19-4 way back in the day late 70's. I've shot the Classic 19 last week and loved every trigger pull. It's really nice to use it and not be concerned since it's Lifetime Warranty is good.

I have owned close to 150 guns, and only the first two I ever bought were new - a Ruger Single-Six in 1976 and a S&W Model 19-4 (nickel 4") in 1977. I actually sold the Ruger about 1 month ago...but I will never sell the Model 19.
