New T/C Venture in .308 Win.....

Note: Since Thompson Center is now owned and made by S&W, I'am assuming discussion of them is acceptable on this forum. If not I apologize..... I recently picked up a new T/C Venture chambered in .308 Win. With the cold, wet, and snowy weather here I've only had two short range sessions with...

    Range Report....New M-29/10

2nd range trip report..... Made it back out to the range today, mainly to test some of the loads I came up with for our steel plate matches..... 8.7Grs. of Unique, a 200Gr. LFN bullet, mild recoil, and knocks those 8" plates down with authority...... I also burned up a box of PMC Bronze...

    Revolver scarcity

Popular demand is for tupperware semi-auto's, it seems the manufacturing of good old fashion wheel guns has taken a back seat through this buying spree, something I hope changes soon.... I was one of the lucky one's recently, being able to score a classic series Model-29, but the demand for big...

    Range Report....New M-29/10

As posted in a previous thread, I purchased a new Classic Series Model 29-10 .44 Magnum, blued with the 6.5" barrel......:D Took it out to the range today with a nice variety of both factory, and reloaded ammo. Blasted off a couple cylinder fulls to work it in, then bench rested it on a target...

    New Classics Picture Thread

I received my new Classic Model 29-10 today....(after waiting 13 long days for the NJ NICS background check to clear).....picked it up this afternoon..... First picture is what I found when I opened the box..... It was extremely dry, so I applied a few drops of Tri-Flo to some of the working...

Has the model 29 lost it's mojo?

The S&W "Dirty Harry" Model 29 has been on my bucket list for a very long time. I just recently struck it off my bucket list with the purchase of a new Classic Series M-29 / 10 6.5" blued.... Unfortunately living in the PRNJ where NICS "instant" background checks are taking 2 to 3 weeks to...

    New Classic Series M-29....

SW&Larry....Thanks for the advice, my new M-29 is blued steel, not nickle. The previous early model 29 I had was nickle with a 4" barrel, and I agree those nickle guns can be tricky to keep clean, as are the stainless one's too.... I use Hoppe's #9, then either BreakFree CLP, or Tri-Flo on all...

    New Classic Series M-29....

Follow up to my ammo questions...... I pulled the heads off the batch that was loaded....(by someone else and gifted to me)..... weighed the charge, and they were 13.8Grs. of Unique, way hot..... I reloaded them to 10.5Grs. of Unique with 200Gr. JHP's I also have 50 rounds loaded with...

    New Classic Series M-29....

I agree, and I'm seriously thinking about pulling them apart and lightening up the charge a bit.... I'll be using this M-29 for pistol matches at our range, mostly steel plate and dueling tree matches, a 200Gr. lead bullet with a moderate .44Spl level of Unique is a perfect load for these...

    New Classic Series M-29....

I was hoping other M-29 owners would chime in, and give me a few suggestions regarding ammo.... I assume the new models no longer have the pre-endurance package issues of the older models, and if so, how well do these new model-29's handle full strength .44 Magnum loads....? At the moment I'm...

    New Classic Series M-29....

Just purchased a new Classic Series Model 29 with a 6.5" barrel. The fit & finish looks superb, the bluing is beautiful, the wood grips are well finished, and the "out of the box" action is pretty darn good as well..... Purchased from Tip's Hardware in West Creek, NJ, I almost find it hard to...

Why are handloads not the preffered carry loads?

I agree 100% that it should not matter what type of ammo is used, as long as the shooter is fully justified in pulling the trigger, all ammunition is designed to stop the advancement of an attacker, granted some calibers do a better job than others, but there is no difference between a round...
