As posted in a previous thread, I purchased a new Classic Series Model 29-10 .44 Magnum, blued with the 6.5" barrel......:D

Took it out to the range today with a nice variety of both factory, and reloaded ammo. Blasted off a couple cylinder fulls to work it in, then bench rested it on a target and fired 3 shot groups to dial in the sights. Windage was good, but she was hitting a little low, made a couple of adjustments til I got it hitting pretty close.......

Then I continued my field testing on the steel plate racks......

Both my paper target and the plates were at 15 yards, I burnt through 150 rounds....(that's about the time the blister started to develop between my thumb and first finger).....;)

I couldn't be happier with this new revolver, I got the brass tumbling, and a recipe for some mild 200Gr. LRN bullets with Unique behind it. I'm ready for our next Steel Plate Match next weekend.......

2nd range trip report.....

Made it back out to the range today, mainly to test some of the loads I came up with for our steel plate matches.....

8.7Grs. of Unique, a 200Gr. LFN bullet, mild recoil, and knocks those 8" plates down with authority......

I also burned up a box of PMC Bronze 185Gr. JHP's so I could reload the brass.....

The only bad thing I could possibly say about this new gun is the chunk of skin it has removed between my thumb and first finger, and the fact that I had to re-tighten all the screws on it while cleaning it today. 2 trips to the range, and approx 200 rounds, and the screws came loose....??? Don't know if this is common or not, and would appreciate some feed back on that.....

Otherwise I love this thing......:D

This is why you should have a good set of REAL gunsmith "hollow ground" screwdrivers. Not so you can take it apart. So you can prevent it from taking itself apart. This is not that common with S&Ws. My guess is they were not snugged all that great at the factory. That said, do NOT use loctite and do not over tighten. It is easy to tighten them, it is not easy to fix if threads are stripped or loctite leaks out into your action.

Some of my revolvers tend to loosen screws, others, not. Some just have one screw that's problematic. Just check 'em when doing normal cleaning duties.
