    629-1 3"

very nice revolvers. I own both myself. The 610 5" is not rare, but more uncommon than the 3" 629-1. You can order moon clips for it online if you have plans of shooting it.. You can also shoot .40 S&W in it as well. Product code on my 610 is 103578. Spec Order 0108 with a BFA serial number...

    “Lew Horton” Combats

Probably the Mag Comp or Carry Comp I, II. I have a Carry Comp II and the production run was 100 . The most valuable Lew Horton in general is probably the model 66 Super K. They consistently sell for over $5K, with one selling for over $7K this past year. That's Registered Magnum money.

    651-1 2” Snub 22 magnum

I have a two inch 651 and 63 that were part of the same lot on an auction I won. I put some banana grips on them both. They're a lot of fun to shoot. If you can get one for a good price, I'd say do it. I paid "all the money" for mine, but I had to have it. The time to buy one is when you see one.

    629 Magnum Packer

Saw one on GB a month ago. Once S&W got to the -4 and -5 in the 629 they made a lot of different one off variants in the three inch examples. I have a -5 Classic Carry that is identical except it doesn't have the laser etching and porting. S&W shipped 1500 of those to Lew Horton. My guess is...

Odd find this weekend 629-5 3" unfluted

The last owner fired a lot of lead through that gun. The forcing cone is shaving the lead off the cylinder face when being closed. That's why the burr is on the same leading edge of the forcing cone, both inside and out.

Combats-I think they turned out nice (post #10)

A second vote for Tru Oil. I've refinished a lot of grips with it and they all come out looking great.

    657 3" question...

I can't comment on whether or not there were any that were Mag-Na-Ported from the factory. I just recently acquired one after years of being snake bit on trying to acquire one. It wasn't shot much outside of factory test firing it appears. I plan to remedy that shortly. Your friend stole his...

S&W 629-5 Snub Camfour Pre-Lock Fixed Sight - Looking for Info

Different strokes for different folks. I only collect big bore, short barreled revolvers. It seems I'm not alone as there is A LOT of competition for them and the prices go up every year. I have no interest in any longer barreled variants. I don't hunt with them and have better options for...

S&W 629-5 Snub Camfour Pre-Lock Fixed Sight - Looking for Info

Another example sold within a day of my auction. It had box and papers but was in well used shape. What I would consider 85% and sold for $100 less. I’ve already had offers over what I paid for it.

S&W 629-5 Snub Camfour Pre-Lock Fixed Sight - Looking for Info

I just picked one up last month. It did not have the box or papers, but did have combat grips on it that do add to the value, albeit not original to the gun. I thought I paid "all the money" at just north of $2,300. It's worth what you and the seller agree the value is. In an auction setting...

WTB: S&W 657 three inch round butt

I'm still on the hunt for one of these. I'd prefer one with a box and papers. Thanks!

    Model 63 & 651

I moved a couple revolvers I hadn't shot or shot very little, so it was a wash more or less. I'm jealous of the guys who got into the revolver game early. I started shooting pistols 15 years ago. Up until then it was all long guns of the sporting variety. When I started buying pistols I...

    Model 63 & 651

I have both inbound. They're both 2" variants. My better half wanted something she could shoot comfortably. That was all the excuse I needed as I have wanted one of each for a while. To hold me over until mine arrive, let's see some pictures.

    Polishing a stainless revolver

It's a small pry mark. The gun is at the smith right now getting what I suspect was a shorten rebound spring replaced and a tune up. The trigger return was not to my liking. It's only cosmetic and a small blemish but it's driving me nuts. I live west of Cleveland, OH and I recall seeing a...
