The orange fiber optic is great, the weight is perfect, the grips were nice looking but too smooth for me and were replaced with hogues.

Accuracy is good, but trigger pull is heavy and as mentioned above, these guns are LOUD. I would not want to use one in an enclosed space.

I sold mine off. It was very inaccurate. That was a huge mistake. The guy I sold it to sent it back to S&W with that very complaint and it came back right on target.

I've gotten over it.

Otherwise, as the poster above says, the trigger pull is very heavy but the sights were great.

Are you thinking of the 351 perhaps? The current model 22 magnum rimfire snubby? They have a fiber optic front. I am not aware of any 651's shipping with fiber optic front sights.

I have also looked at the 351 but I'm trying my best to avoid new model S&W and just stick to the older guns.

Thanks!!

My 351 PD meets a need . My wife has had surgery on both thumbs. Very weak hands. The little 22 magnum resides in her purse. It's loaded with Hornady critical defense ammo. I don't imagine the D/A pull can be lightened very much and remain reliable.
That being said I don't want to be introduced to the business end.

I put Nill's walnut grips on my 351 PD

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. How do you like it?

Believe it or not, it's the 3rd one I've owned. I've been looking for a 2" Model 63, but I only find 651s.

All 3 have been good shooters. Accurate with a pretty hefty double action pull due to it being an J frame and a rimfire. Like already said, they can be loud. The noise by itself would probably dissuade an attacker in a self defense situation.

I have a two inch 651 and 63 that were part of the same lot on an auction I won. I put some banana grips on them both. They're a lot of fun to shoot. If you can get one for a good price, I'd say do it. I paid "all the money" for mine, but I had to have it. The time to buy one is when you see one.
